Wow Kat, what's that sound? Well, glad you asked. It's the sound of me SMASHING through my 75k getyourwordsout goal! BOOM! We're currently >78k and there's still a day to go.

Much of the words came from a) co-writing done with dreamersdare and b) because I churned over 24k for Spooktober fics/ficlets, even if some of that churning happened after Christmas lol. Posting most of them back-to-back was a really interesting experience actually and I have some reflections.

Finally, I wanted to flail about being podficced!!

The lovely pezzax_podfics podficced under his wing (TXT, Choi Soobin/Choi Yeonjun) and turned a tiny ficlet into a full-blown audio drama with music and sound effects and it is so, so extremely cool I absolutely lost mine when listening. Also, please appreciate the cover art! (akdkjsj wings!)

The most awesome pieces0fstars podficced Volcano (Stray Kids, Han Jisung/Lee Minho) and holy shit the emotional impact the recording packs... Look, I obviously had a lot of emotions about the concepts which I wrote immediately after the song dropped. But the thing is, I wrote the fic so I knew what was in the fucker and yet, YET, I was absolutely choked up, clutching my heart, because the performance got that exact frayed, desperate edge I tried to convey in words and... Yeah, please listen.

Technically it's is not the past all shadow but that's definitely because it got caught in some random bot and has over 23k of hits which is implausible for a Lewis gen fic.

A more realist result is where the street have no name with over 9k hits, a Grimm Nick/Monroe undercover as a prostitute romp

Reformation, the Good Omens Aziraphale/Crowley fic a I wrote well before the TV-adaptation was even a rumour but that received most of its 1.2k of kudos within weeks of season 1 airing when everyone was desperaterely looking for content

Okay, you folk are HORNY given how many responses I got to the Kinky Fuckbuddy, Vanilla Fuckbuddy, One Night Stand meme I got. Unsurprising. I'm gonna stretch these throughout the month one at a time to tick off my daily DW posts.

pushkin666 gave me three of the dommiest doms I can think of: Namjoon (BTS), Gerard (MCR) and Monroe (Grimm).  This is a... PROBLEM. But, let's be creative about this.

In the past I've had him in every role I think depending on who the options are but here he is that one slightly greasy guy I meet at a club and it's dark and he's wearing a cheerleader outfit but like, I'm into that on dudes, so amma gonna let him eat me out and then ride my thigh in the bathroom, and not even mind that much when he moans out someone else's name when he comes (not like I gave him mine so all good). I think about getting his number but honestly, whatever he's in the middle of doesn't feel like it has room for others.

Right, no one is surprised. As pushkin666 and dreamersdare can attest, I have some... uh... ~feelings~ about this man. He is SO HOT I literally cannot but obviously would. Like physically hot, fuck yes, but also, I have almost cried about his multilingual 140 IQ leadership competency on several occasions and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The thing is, because of that, I read him as dom as fuck and whilst I Love To See It, I don't want to be on the receiving end of that. So, question: does it still count as a fuckbuddy relationship if I watch him dom other men and then we fuck. Or, like, while we fuck? Let's say it does and that's the relationship we have. In between we shyly pass lyrics and poetry to each other for comments, talk about the evils of late stage capitalism and volunteer at local environmental charity. Firstly, I am verklempt over the lovely comments on my Holiday Meme tread. I also definitely know who some of the people responsible but to protect them from having to openly discuss icky feelings I'm going to pretend I don't.

Secondly, after at least a couple of years of not having energy for these things, I have signed up for fandomtrees. You can find my extensive list of fandom requests here. I honestly could have continued for much longer but had to cut it off somewhere so we have: Guardian, Guardian RPF, Harry Potter, Good Omens, BTS (sigh, I know), MCR, FOB, PATD, Start Trek AOS, Grimm, MCU and Witcher. Being multifandom is a gift and a burden.

I've strolled through the entries posted so far and identified some with tempting prompts... And have about 1k for one of them at the moment, whoo writing!

Thirdly...

We will be starting a read/reread of Book 1. Eye of the World on 1st of December, with initial schedule (to be adjusted if needed!) of roughly book per month. Besides that, any and all fanworks or other content relating to both the book series and the TV adaptation, are welcome on the community.

Challenge #6 of 



was to rec something created by someone else!

In honour of my slutty slutty fandom ways, I simply went to my AO3 history and picked some pages in random and collected 10 fics in 10 different fandoms, all which I remember enjoying for a variety of reasons. Please note that this is more like a sampler and not any kind of 'best of the best in given fandom' because I Read A Lot and am not that organised.

(Also, you wouldn't think to look at this list but I don't just read porn! And yet...)

Any time, any place, any way by yantantether (Guardian, Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan, E) - Zhao Yunlan is away on a conference and missing his hot bf. Initiating phone sex is such a great idea. Things escalate. This is happens to be the most recent fic I've read that fit the criteria! My id and the author's share the same gutter so pretty much everything she writes is Relevant To My Interests and this is no exception. It's a pwp but one with playfulness and tenderness in addition to the filthy sex (which ticks many things of my kink list such as bruises, manhandling, power play).

Dream A Little (Wet) Dream Of Me by skintightsocks (Glee RPF, Chris/Darren, Chris/Darren/Lea, E) - Told you've I've been on Glee nostalgia tour. I like this author's everything, would highly recommend pretty much all their fics. This one just happened to be on my randomly selected page. This one is a lot of banter and pumpkin-carving and sharing of sex dreams ("I had a dream Lea and I double-teamed you," Chris blurts out) and phone sex and it's just very... Easy? Angst free and fun (and funny) and I actually like how there is no traditional 'then they got together' ending here, just... Some hot young people having hot fun.

I don't gamble but if I did I'd bet on us by ships_to_sail (Schitt's Creek, Patrick/David, T) - A delightful AU in which Patrick is a DJ for local radio's folk hour and David has a car radio that's stuck and Opinions on the music he's subjected to during his late night drives. This is so cute with spot-on characterisation and genuinely adorable meeting/identity reveal. Also, the sound-track is pretty good and introduced me to some new music.

they'll say we're in love by psikeval (Hamilton RPF, Jonathan Groff/Lin-Manuel Miranda, E) - Genuinely sad there isn't more fic for this pairing and there's a part of me that is still playing with that bdsm!AU idea for this pairing but so far have resisted. Anyway, this is a lovely friends-to-lovers slide with flirting and pining and text-messages and it's just stomach-swoopingly wonderful.

Only When Spoken To by CaptainWeasley (Brooklyn 99, Amy/Jake, E) - This is one of my favourite canon couples and absolutely rife with femdom potential. Which is realised beautifully in this filthy, filthy established relationship smut with role play, rules and excellent verbal humiliation. As the summary says 'Amy is now a sergeant and Jake is definitely into it.' The fic is definitely hot, but the love and trust between the two of them is really what gets me going. Happy sigh.

Ryan Number One by quackers (Buzzfeed Unsolved, Ryan/Shane, E) - Shane accidentally sends a rather explicit text to the wrong Ryan... Ryan can't stop thinking about it. A delightful frolic through the 'oh wait, my bff isn't as straight or as vanilla as i thought and now i have some feelings' trope and listen kids, I Am Here For It, especially when it also includes some sexy, sexy first time d/s.

Follow You Down by kirk_spock_in_the_impala (ryokoyuy) (Witcher, Geralt/Jaskier, M) - This definitely incorporates book/game canon that I know nothing about but it doesn't really matter, because it's essentially a bdsm!au where Geralt is both a sub and a Witcher and he never thought that combination would have a happy ending but turns out Jaskier has a thing or ten to teach Geralt and his family. Hello, have you met me? 146k slow burn friends-to-lovers bdsm!au is like delicious crack to me. This is also angsty, has some trauma recovery, more family feels than you can shake a sword at and is just utterly, utterly lovely.

Love in all its Forms by Branwen_Blaidd (Sense8, all canon relationships but Wolfgang/Kala/Rajan centric, E) - When the show solved the seeming love triangle with a loving threesome I (literally) screamed in delight. The fic picks up the morning after and offers a long and loving exploration of the new relationship dynamic between them (dating, parents, therapy, intrigue!) as well as giving time for all the other relationships and friendships and cluster love. Absolute comfort read with changing povs.

I’ll Never Let You Go (If You Promise Not to Fade Away) by rabidchild67 (Grimm, Nick/Monroe, M) - Groundhog Day AU where Nick keeps dying and Monroe keeps trying to save him. Fun and deliciously angsty version of the timeloop trope with some pining and happy ending. Much enjoyed.

The Birthday Muffin by Lily_Dragon (Broadchurch, Alec/Ellie, T) - They are such human disasters who in this share not just painful history but also a birthday, which they navigate with much awkwardness, accidental innuendo and pining.

Most popular story:
How to measure? I mean the last two were only posted very recently so there's not much to say about their popularity yet (although a surprising number of comments on take this longing from my tongue). Hits/kudos/comments suggest that The Black Lotus Club takes the crown (geddit?) here. I was really blown away by how enthusiastic the fandom is. A Fine Day comes as a surprise second because I don't even really go there but... Venom fandom easily pleased? Good to know I guess!

My best story this year:
Vlarian Oath or so people tell me. I am pleased with the world-building. here to collect your heart because of the pacing and delivering the impact. I don't write a lot of dark!fic but on occasion... The Black Lotus Club because of some of the language and descriptions. Lose A Kraken, Gain An Angel because I'm pleased with the style, the footnotes, the fact that it has made people laugh and cry.

Hardest story to write:
Vlarian Oath, take this longing from my tongue and until the end, until this blood all very difficult but only because of the time pressure. Each was pretty much written in less than a week all together, though with pauses in between. until the end, until this blood certainly was squeezed out between Christmas and NY. Last minute winner! I didn't write anything with like emotionally difficult themes this year.

Easiest story to write:
Hmmm... Maybe some of the Character Sketches or Substitute cos I wrote those drunk :D But also Lose A Kraken, Gain An Angel, because I find the Pratchett'esque irreverence and liberal use of footnotes rather relaxing.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Idk, the fic with lowers hits/kudos are the short ones I never expected much for anyway. I guess maybe Lose A Kraken, Gain An Angel but then again GO fandom is super oversaturated with excellent fic atm. But like, my original fic got way more hits and kudos that that which is puzzling! Art most underappreciated though: Uber Mood Board! I'm really proud of it but it's such a small fandom indeed... Would btw recommend the story!

Most fun story to write:
Lose A Kraken, Gain An Angel because irreverence and footnotes! I also had fun with Carte Blanche which was pretty much pure id fic. Oh, and A Fine Day because Venom voice is something I enjoyed a lot!

Fluffiest story:
Sweet Tooth, Sweetheart is pretty sugary, literally :D And Warmer Together just has some pre-poly snuggles so...

Most angsty story:
Depends how you look at it. Like until the end, until this blood has some consent and 'fuck or die' related angst. The Black Lotus Club has the 'I'm trying to keep away for your own good but feelings' angst that is given for SW/ZYL, also a heavy feature of the Shen Wei Character Sketch. However, for proper angst I'd go with here to collect your heart because... No happy ending in sight.

Sexiest story:
A surprising amount of explicit sex this year! Vivat Regina, Carte Blanche, Substitute and non nobis solum were all explicitly porn focused. All the longer fics also had sex scenes, though they weren't the focus per se. Except maybe for Vlarian Oath were getting in some alien tentacle f/f action was totally the driving force (just required a lot of world building to get there lol). Personal winner for me though is The Black Lotus Club though because the drawn out d/s ust and manhandling and SW controlling the pace while SYL rides him... Special mention for the scene with the chocolate tasting in until the end, until this blood.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
I don't think I did anything newly outrageous. There was some alien tentacle sex in Vlarian Oath (tentacles done before), incest in until the end, until this blood (incest written A LOT, although this was first time for Sentinel!AU)... Oh, maybe the outright non-con in Vivat Regina and the implied vore in here to collect your heart?

Biggest Disappointment:
I'm not really that disappointed about anything writing related. 92k is fucking good going. *pats self on the back*

Biggest Surprise:
Vlarian Oath has done way better than I expected, considering it's original f/f with a rather niche concept. It also got recced. I also got a really long rec on an older fic (that Hansel/Gretel one...) which was such a lovely surprise. Oh and all the awesome art HanHathma has done, including several pieces I'm still trying to convince her to post on AO3 and not just like WhatsApp me.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
I mean... The Black Lotus Club is pure id fic. Never made any secret of that. But also Vlarian Oath in a way.

Story I haven't yet written, but intend/hope to:
The smallfandombang fic, the first draft of which is due in, oh, four weeks. Haha. Ha. Anyway, I really hope I can pull it off and don't have to withdraw last minute. It's going to be Amos/Alex from the Expanse and in the well-loved genre of 'then they all had some space adventures together, probably had to pretend to be a couple at some point and maybe some d/s vibe happens too, as it does. in space'. The 4th season is out now but I haven't watched it and not sure I'm going to incorporate much canon beyond the basic premise. More likely set somewhere between seasons 2 and 3. Otherwise, I both nominated and plan to sign up to chocolateboxcomm for the first time. I would like to also write the purely self-indulgent Guardian porn about Zhao Yunlan's oral fixation that I've had in my mind for ages. Generally, I just pledged at getyourwordsout like a fool so... That's happening.

So here's a question to those of you who read fic with a d/s slant. Whether it's full on BDSM world AUs (like candy to me), formalised d/s relationships, or just characters being a bit toppy/subby in the bedroom (or out of it):

Do you have a really firm preference for a given pairing who is dominant, who submissive? Because boy howdy, I really do. There are certain pairings where I can. not. read. d/s flavoured fic if the dynamic written is opposite to my head canon. Like, I can see that the writing is great and the plot brilliant, whatever, but I just. can. not. And then. Some other pairings I don't mind at all which way the power pendulum swings.

To give you some examples, here's pairings where I cannot read (or have no interest in writing) fic with d/s dynamic unless it's in the specific direction as indicated below. Pairings listed in the dominant/submissive order

Person of Interest: Finch/Reese
Marvel: Bruce/Tony, Pepper/Tony, Steve/Bucky, Coulson/Clint
Bandom: Patrick/Pete, Gerard/Frank, Bob/Frank, Gerard/Mikey, Patrick/Gerard (look, Patrick tops everyone, okay?
Being Human: George/Mitchell
Stargate Atlantis: Rodney/John, Carson/Rodney, Radek/Rodney
Good Omens: Aziraphale/Crowley
Supernatural: Sam/Dean
Star Trek: McCoy/Kirk
Sherlock: John/Sherlock
Harry Potter: Remus/Sirius, Harry/Draco
NCIS: Tim/Tony
Grimm: Monroe/Nick
X-Men: Charles/Erik
Daredevil: Foggy/Matt

Common thread: it's the quiet, unassuming ones who bring it... I have a lot of head canon and feelings about this re the above pairings, ask me if you want to know more! Or get my thoughts on pairings not listed!

Furthermore, in the rare occasion I read het fic, I cannot stomach anything but femdom if power dynamics are introduced. Any hint of female submission in a het fic makes me extremely uncomfortable and I'll be hitting the back key no matter how good the writing, how healty/ssc the relationship portrayal etc.

Then again, there are tons of pairings where I don't mind switching it up (pun entirely intended). Mainly e.g. Panic boys from bandom (although I read Spencer as a top most of the time, I can be convinced otherwise), Hobbit/LOTR and, well probably some others.
