Small World - Seungmin/Jeongin, background pairings, AU. Hilarious, told in large part via text messages in a gamer group chat (which is a format I love but I know some don't). Terrible flirting and bickering ensues. And then it gets dirty. This is full on delightful with a fun little identity reveal twist.

who's gonna drive you home? - Seungmin/Jeongin, AU. Jeongin gets into a sticky situation at a party, but, just like before, Seungmin is there to save him. Lovely.

all's well that ends well (to end up with you) - Seungmin/Jeongin, AU. In which Seungmin is a romance writer who can't quite make his latest plot work. At least there's this totally platonic Valentine's Day date with his BFF to distract him... I'm sucker for the 'from bffs to lovers' trope and this is an extremely cute version of it.

waiting for us - Seungmin/Jeongin, canon compliant. The other trope I love is 'art as expression of love' and this is a treatise on 'every song Seungmin works on is about Jeongin' and reader, it is glorious. Full of growing up together and taking care of each other through training and debuting and making it. Adorable confession scene.

when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore - Seungmin/Jeongin, AU. In which Jeongin needs a ride, a long one, and Seungmin is a friend of a friend who just happens to have space in his car. A roadtrip fic! Cuddling for warmth, repeatedly! I love that it isn't instant love or even like, and they definitely take a while to figure out how their personalities fit together.

can't stop (falling in love) - Seungmin/Jeongin, canon compliant. Lovely and hilarious outsider's (well insider really, Minho's in this case) view on Seungmin and Jeongin's relationship. Everyone is a troll in this and I grinned throughout.

of course i believe in you - Seungmin/Jeongin, canon compliant. A short little moment of Jeongin's insecurities getting the best of him back stage and Seungmin talking him through it.

catch a fever dream - Minho/Jisung, pure porn. Look, this author is one of the Very Few where I will unhesitatingly click on pwp fics because they are, without exception, incendiary. Because of Good Writing. Here cat hybrid Minho goes into heat and really needs Jisung to help him out... Except, well, it's not quite as it seems. Scorching.

tangled in the willows -  Minho/Jisung, AU. Same author as above but no on screen sex to like reinforce my Good Fucken Writing point. A 'fwb to lovers' with a sense of poetry, painful and fragile with hope, outstanding Jisung voice.  

hoodie season - Minho/Jisung, canon compliant to boot. Ah yes, clothes sharing, one of my favourite tropes. Here Jisung starts appropriating Minho's hoodie and Minho is obviously like, so cool with it. Not like, possessive, at all. The tension. It gets resolved. Deliciously.

Attachments - Minho/Jisung university AU. In which 24h handcuff challenge makes for some really fun content for Jisung's YT channel. And pushes some feelings to the surface, especially as decisions about future get discussed.

Call Me Baby - Minho/Jisung, AU. And they were roommates! In which Jisung keeps calling Minho 'baby' and Minho has a not so mild mental breakdown over it. Mutual caretaking and babying, unabashedly sweet.

MUS101: How to Fall in Love with Your TA - Chan/Felix, university AU. Chan is the TA in this scenario and Felix is Suffering, because Chan is Very Hot and Very Nice, but also kind of part of their shared friendship group and, most devastatingly of all, he has like, professional ethics. Felix is going to crack that nut though. Listen, I love these kinds of scenarios in fic (and break down in hives of that shit irl) and this deals with some of the messiness of it all pretty well.

maximum accident - Chan/Felix, canon compliant. 60k of pretend dating because Felix has some old photos leaked and Chan volunteers for the cause of selling an in-group relationship instead something else, which Felix feels terrible about because he knows Chan is in love with him and he, well, he isn't. Or... Absolutely excellent tour through some of the trope highlights, made a bit more wrought by the twist, but also so much fun because the rest of the group are hilariously supportive. Bonus points for the d/s vibe that starts to trickle in. Delicious.

We're just getting started, yeah - Chan/Felix, bodyguard AU. In which Felix is the bodyguard and 3racha are a famous hip hop trio and professional boundaries are very decidedly not maintained. Not when there is a remote cabin with just one bed. Extremely fun read but piles on some angst too given the role issues.

I love you more than slightly - Chan/Felix, canon-compliant. It's about the two of them but it's also about the group as a whole and taking care of each other, through some of the landmarks of their career. The whole Red Lights sequence with Hyunjin, and the resulting tension, is really well covered here.

top tier and sequel 10 ways to bag your man (Soobin/Yeonjun, Beomgyu/Taehyun, AU) - This author is hilarious and you should read all their fics, but these two especially. In the first the guys find Yeonjun's hookup list and Soobin is distraught to learn that the one time he and Yeonjun kissed didn't even merit a mention. Clear he is forgettable. (spoiler alert: he is wrong on both accounts). In the second, the two of them make a 'top then Beomgyu simping fails' list and make him suffer through it.

A Thousand Times I'd Tell You (Soobin/Yeonjun, canon compliant) - As the summary says, this is the five times Yeonjun confesses, and the one time Soobin actually takes him seriously. Fluffy pining, my jam.

"Love in Time of Godzilla" - a playlist by Choi Yeonjun (Soobin/Yeonjun, AU) - Absolutely wild 24k AU where Godzilla and other weird radiation born critters are roaming the earth and Yeonjun, Soobin and a whole bunch of other familiar names are just trying to keep their theatre company going. This was just hugely entertaining, with a great ensemble cast, and that beautiful 'people living their best lives in worst circumstances' feel. Also, Yeonjun has no chill.

the difference between wish and want (Beomgyu/Taehyun, Soobin/Yeonjun, AU) - in which Taehyun is a cat hybrid on the run and Beomgyu has a very soft heart. It's an adorable hybrid!AU but T rated if the explicit stuff is not your bag and you would like just to imagine cute kitty Taehyun. Super sweet.


SVT Recs

Keyframe (Soonyoung/Jihoon + side pairings, AU) - University AU with a really interesting framing/structure around months and concepts. Jihoon does not want to know or care about Soonyoung. Soonyoung has other ideas. This is a lovely, but also a painful, slide into feelings and working through issues with additional vocabulary lessons. Nothing is easy but it is earned.

adore u series (Wonwoo/Mingyu, Junhui/Minghao, Soonyoung/Jihoon, AU) - This is a university AU series of three fics, one for each couple, and it is full of the friends to lovers slow burn. The stories and relationships connect and develop in parallel and the overall friendship vibe is great, as is the writing.

all eyes on you (Soonyoung/Jihoon, AU) - I realise there's a theme but I like what I like. This is another university AU but this time Soonyoung is the new wunderkind in the dance department and Jihoon is tired of never feeling like he's enough and starting think maybe dance isn't the path for him after all. The fic is 104k, spans four years and offers alternating povs and so much self-growth that I came out of it feeling like I too was somehow a better person at the end of it too. Another one of those 'things and feelings and people are complicated and you have to work at relationships' fics which are incredibly satisfying. Also, they dance together. A lot. It's... It's definitely worth the entrance fee alone.

100 Days of 143s (Soonyoung/Jihoon, canon compliant) - In which Jihoon is dared to say 'I love you' to Soonyoung every day for 100 days. Which is excruciating because Jihoon is disgustingly in love and Soonyoung isn't. Or... Listen, we absolutely know where this is going but the ride there is first rate: 89k, rating never goes above G, the relationship and personal development is amazing, the misunderstanding are classic ('oh no my crush has a crush, who could it be') but well executed, we have multiple povs and did... Did I mention it's canon compliant? Because I loved that, for me.

Hello, yes, it's the start of Easter weekend. I'm going to have to spend part of that working on this stupid book chapter that's technically due in, oh, ten days (but won't actually be finished in that time lol) but also hopefully on some other writing.

Anyway, I'm going to be taking the path of least resistance with the daily posting and just, uh, go with fic recs for four days. Ngl, they will all be kpop, which, I know, is of limited interest to my flist as a whole. However. HOWEVER. Majority of them are AUs and also, let's be real, we've all read fics in fandoms we're not actually in because the the premise ticks the right boxes. Just ask me how many bdsm!au hocky rpf fics I've read. The answer is, So Many. The other week I heard some colleagues talking about NHL and I recognised several names. I did not join in though because my contribution would've been 'oh he was the needy sub in that one fic and loved hand-feeding' which my keen social intelligence told me was the kind of detail was best kept, un, unshared in that company.

But, I digress! Kpop fic recs it is. Let's kick it with them BTS boys.  

Logical Thinking (Hoseok/Namjoon/Yoongi, canon compliant) - Oh my god my fellow humans, oh my god. I have never, not once, cried so much over 135k (yes, you read that right) of what is essentially Incredibly Hot Sex, Like 'My Soul Disintegrated' Hot. The... THE FEELINGS, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. Okay, so, it's the classic 'starts as just as a sex thing and then feelings develop' but my god it's well done, I was reading this during a fucking student trip I was supervising and literally just kept sneaking in paragraphs between herding them around and you haven't lived until you've tried to be Responsible Adult while metaphorically holding your bleeding heart in your hands because a fanfic stabbed it into thousand pieces and then stitched it together. Anyway, did I mention the d/s vibe. Yeah. This was written specifically to kill me.

what rhymes with pug me (Namjoon/Yoongi, canon compliant) - It's 62k of sweater sharing where the history of Namjoon and Yoongi is traced through this one yellow hoodie which becomes both the symbolic and literal gesture of caring, and an excuse for touching and oh my god, have you met me? I love this fic so much I have read it twice and listened to it once (oh yes, there is a wonderful podfic version available), it is so soft, so soft, I am *gathers emotions like errant cotton balls*

Crossing Parallel Lines (Seokjin/Jungkook, AU) - In which Seokjin is a former gymnast brought into mentor a rising star gymnast Jungkook. Friendship follows. Then... other things. Delicious angst over crossing lines and the reasons not to and the bigger reasons to go ahead anyway.

like an ancient sun (Taehyung/Jimin, canon compliant) - One car ride where Jimin has to sit in Tae's lap because lack of room and years of carefully balanced sexual tension and feelings come crashing down all over them. Nnnngghhh?

Like the Pull of the Moon (Hoseok/Seokjin, AU) - Hoseok has never kissed anyone. Good thing he has such a good and generous friend willing to teach him. In exchange for dance lessons. Ahh but I do love this trope an unholy amount, and this is an excellent rendition with much 'mutually pining idiots' energy

Pull Me Under (Namjoon/Hoseok, Yoongi/Seokjin/Jungkook, Taehyung/Jimin, AU) - in which Hoseok's relatively peaceful job at a summer resort is interrupted by the arrival of a new lifeguard. Who he hates. Obviously. Because he's a dick. Except maybe Hoseok doesn't and maybe Namjoon isn't. I actually listened to the excellent multivoice podfic recording of this whilst sick with covid and had just So Many Emotions. It is funny as fuck, full of shenanigans and misunderstandings and pining. The side pairings are all excellent too and everyone has a hidden identity. Absolutely stellar romp.

Or, Are You Just Happy To See Me? (Seokjin/Jimin, Namjoon/Yoongi, Taehyung/Jungkook, AU) - in which Jimin is in a running to win a romantic trip and just needs a fake boyfriend to seal the deal. Except there are some complications and in the end he seals the deal on something quite different. Hilarious and adorable.

Songs I can't believe I forgot (Namjoon/Yoongi, AU) - in which they are roommates and bffs enjoying an outdoor punk festival, but then Yoongi gets tired and Yoongi gets cold and Namjoon is there and big and strong and very warm and... The sex is hot but they are so soft.

running into you (and hating every step) (Namjoon/Seokjin, Jungkook/Hoseok, Taehyung/Jimin, Yoongi/OMC, AU) - in which Seokjin just wants to find a new flat for him and his roommates but keeps running to this really annoying hot guy at every viewing. Absolutely perfect hilarious Seokjin voice, I laughed so much. Bonus points for how the roommates trying to negotiate peace goes down.

Never Meant to Be Mine (Namjoon/Jungkook, AU) - in which bunny hybrid Kook needs to be married to be allowed to get a job. Namjoon volunteers. Listen, I make no excuses for how much I enjoy hybrid or a/b/o type of AUs because have you seen the power dynamics in those things? Exactly. So why are you even surprised. This is a lovely 'pining for your fake husband' fic with bonus 'oh i've never even been kissed' and 'oops i went into heat'. What's not to love?

Namjoon writes heartfelt letters to his multiple one night stands because he can't actually face up to explaining to them that he isn't looking for a relationship, and instead waits it out in Hoseok's flat across corrider while they leave. That's totally normal and while, and it's not like Hoseok is in love with him or anything, but absolutely determined not to do anything about it because he doesn't want to get a letter of his own. Then Namjoon decides he's going to be celibate and also asks Hoseok to schedule some Happy Friendship Time with him, regularly. That's also like, fine and very normal. This was honestly laugh out loud funny, everyone is absolutely hilarious in both 'helping' and mercilessly teasing Hoseok. Awkward dates and idiots in love. Plus some letters, eventually.

Intrusive Thots (Kim Namjoon|RM/Min Yoongi|Suga, neighbours AU, E, 14k). Well. This is 14k of filth. So, Namjoon is just a bit telepathic. Which would not even be a problem if his new neighbour didn't have the dirtiest, most intrusive dreams which float into his own every. single. night. And now he gets a front row seat into watching and, uh, participating, in Yoongi begging for a big cock and getting railed until he cries and as a result is both constantly horny and incredibly sleep-deprived. Again, this was both hilarious but also very, very dirty. A perfect exploration of the complimentary AO3 tags of 'Size Queen Min Yoongi' and 'Kim Namjoon|RM Has a Big Dick'.

JK, 25 [Online Now] (Jeon Jungkook/Kim Namjoon|RM, not famous AU, E, 6k). Jungkook is into older men with big dicks. Namjoon isn't sure what he's looking for but he's alone for a bit. They meet on Grindr, flirth a bit and then they fuck. That's it, that's the fic. But listen, I love the epistolary aspect of fics like this and this one comes with pictures, so... Win/win. nowhere to go but here (Jeon Jungkook/Kim Seokjin|Jin, university AU, T, 15k). In which Jungkook accidentally gets a sugardaddy. In which Seokjin is kind of famous and just likes to relax by... uh, tipping this really good gamer streamer. I am honestly living for the amount of good (plot and feelings driven) sugardaddy/sugarbaby fic K-pop is providing, like god damn. This one is really funny and adorable, because of course Jungkook doesn't want Jin for his money.

ectothermic affairs (Kim Namjoon|RM/Min Yoongi|Suga, roommates AU, E, 7k). A delicious exploration of the 'sharing a bed for warmth' trope. Yoongi's room is very cold during the winter and Namjoon's bed, is very, very warm. And if things happen in that bed, but not outside of it, then that's fine and not something they have to like, talk about, right? Ahh, happy sigh. Slow and languid, and so, so warm and comfortable despite the underlying uncertainty and pining.

more and more and more (Jeon Jungkook/Kim Seokjin | Jin, university AU, E, 23k). Once upon a time Jin told Jungkook that if he hasn't had sex by the time he's twenty, then, well Jin would do it. A guaranteed end date for virginity. Of course Jin never expected to actually, like, do it. However. Okay, this is both hot af (the sex is diverse and regular, they build up to it,Jin takes his promise very seriously) but also provides the delicious mutual pining because predictably it takes Jin Some Time to figure out that this is a bit more than just helping out a friend.

together we'll count our stars (Kim Namjoon|RM/Min Yoongi|Suga, radio station AU, T, 19k). In which Namjoon gets a job at a radio station, gets off to a bad start with the DJ, and then gets off to a much better start at slowly falling in love with the said DJ. Lots of bonding over music and the importance of being present. This is a a beautiful slow burn with soft feelings and almost dreamlike quality to it at points. Gorgeous.

Episode 07: starving in seoul (Kim Namjoon|RM/Min Yoongi|Suga, not famous AU, M, 6k). Yoongi is new in Seoul and he's a bit (okay, maybe a lot) lonely. Having a regular restaurant with a regular hot waiter is a comfort. Except then this one time he accidentally holds his hand. There's nothing to do it but ask for advice from his favourite podcast hosts. This is just so lovely and adorable and heart warming.

I Know You Want Me (Kim Taehyung | V/Park Jimin, not famous AU, E, 10k). Taehyung is... kind of telepathic. As in 'can definitely read your thoughts' telepathic. Which usually is a pain. Except this really cute guy who keeps running in the cafe and his rather, uh, detailed thoughts of what they could be doing. This gets filthier from there but in a rather lovely feelings way since Jimin is the first guy whose thoughts are about how good he could make Taehyung feel and not the other way around.

just let the feeling grow (Kim Namjoon | RM/Kim Seokjin | Jin, not famous AU, T, 8k). Jin doesn't hate Namjoon but he just knows exactly his type and doesn't want to anything to do with him. Except when his asshole landlord kicks him out much earlier than planned and no one else is available to help him move, and now there Namjoon is, in pink overalls, charming Seokjin's cat. And possibly Seokjin himself too. This is just utterly lovely and has a great Jin voice. His panic over Having An Emotion is very real and yet, no sympathy from anyone.

Because apparently I've done something to please the universe, I've somehow received two fics. I'm not exactly complaining though because they are both absolutely gorgeous and manage to hit so many things on my 'yes please' list of likes and wants that I'm not quite sure what to do with myself! Except, rec them!

Dirty Martini, T, Marvel, Pepper/Tony - BDSM AU! Oh yes, I got a BDSM AU fic and I love it so! Just... feelings, and excellent characterisation and detail, and the Pepper/Tony rooftop scene from Iron Man 2 is given a lovely d/s make over with kneeling and bared neck (yes, hello, my kinks). Everything I wanted for this pairing and scenario.

Cottage in the Woods, E, Original Fic, Female Witch/Male Werewolf - Amazing world building and great use of the supernatural elements. Characters are real and three dimensional, the sex is hot (orgasm denial, spanking, service, kneeling, yes thank you mmmm) and the relationship dynamic is treated beautifully. Written with real insight into d/s.

Sunday Drive, M, Original Fic, OFC/OFC, 1950s lesbians! Lipstick Femme domming a down-on-her-luck butch hitchhiker. Delightful details and capers galore!

Better than Netflix, E Original Fic, OFC/OMC. I liked this a lot because it showed kink in long terms established relationship and felt very real. Interesting bondage and orgasm denial scenario and cute domesticity.

The Right Answer, E, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Jadzia Dax/Kira Nerys - In character and great use of future tech for bondage. Would sure love a set of those reaction control system thrusters...

The Same Coin, E, Babylon 5, Lyta/Lennier - Lyta and Lennier sublimating their lovehatelove of Delenn with each other. Dark, dubious consent, but very well done.

The Best, E, Aquaman, Arthur/Mera - Just super fun 'Arthur loves to take it from his gf's Atlantean strap-on' fic. I love how enthusiastic and fun the sex in this is. And I mean, the mental images are very gratifying.

House&Life: new washing machine is a dream, I have mastered the drill and put up (with some assistance) curtain railingins LIKE A BOSS, we are fast approaching the 'will take pictures to post' state of housing. Cats have been going out a lot and coming back every time. Unnecessary amount of spiders though, bleugh.

Fandom, part 1: Have fallen into a hole called Guardian which is Chinese supernatural drama that provides the kind emotionally satisfying m/m romance at the centre of it that I've only previous found in fanfic. I blame mekare and rheasilvia whose intro post got me intrigued enough. If you like sould bonds and meaningful glances and ridiculous plots and tucking each other to sleep and identity porn this is for you. All on Youtube with (occasionally also hilarious but in a good way) English subtitles.

Fandom part 2: I got so many lovely things on my fandom_stocking post, including two delightful bandom fics, a glorious Mal/Jayne Firefly fic that hit all my buttons, icons, recipes, links, pretties... So verklempt and grateful.

Fandom part 3: Been to see Mary Poppins Returns, and adored it. I have many feelings about Lin-Manuel Miranda, his eyes and my deep, deep need to see him as a romantic lead more. Also went to see Spiderverse which was amazing (apiphile, you didn't oversell it even a little) and deserves all the awards for the animation.

Fandom part 4: Umbrella Academy trailer!!! May be enough for me to break my Netflix resistance and take advantage of that 'you can borrow my logins' offer I've got. Looks so goooooooooooooood.

So, a while ago I also got into Common Law, which was sadly only ran for one season but had awesomely slashy buddy-cop premise. No really, they’re in couple’s therapy, it’s great. If you get a chance, do check it out. Here are some fic recs for it!

Common Law

5 Things Wes Doesn't Like Because of Travis - Wes & Travis. This is tagged as pre-slash but it is pretty mild so you can read it as friendship fic if you prefer. Travis keeps lists of things Wes doesn’t like. Quite a few of them have something to do with Travis, and not the way you’d expect. This was a lovely exploration of Wes’ awkward ways of showing he cares. Plus lists! I love lists :D

Accidentally (Committed) - Wes/Travis. In which Travis accidentally moves in. This is one of my favourite tropes and really nicely done here with casual intimacy and freak outs and banter.

Breakfast At Tiffany's - Wes/Travis, AUs/tropes. This is essentially a rollicking good ride through five beloved fandom tropes: soul bond, handcuffed together, pretend couple, friends with benefits, and kid fic. Fun and sexy and awesome, really enjoyable. I would have happily read more about each scenario but at 8k this is a good length as it is so I won’t complain!

Bruised and Battered - Wes/Travis. Wes is beaten up badly. Travis helps him cope with the aftermath. Lovely h/c.

King Of The Nile - Wes/Travis. Wes is denying himself happiness. Travis notices. And then he does something about it. Ah, but this is lovely and you just ache for Wes and his guilt complex and brittle control. The ending is palpably fragile and tense, until the happiness of course.

Make it Work - Wes & Travis. You could read this at pre-slash if you preferred, but works beautifully as a friendship fic about dysfunctional families and difficulty of talking about things that are painful to us. Perfect balance of humour, banter and genuine caring.

The Smartest Thing To Do - Wes/Travis. In which there are some cases and Travis is very good at compartmentalising. Until he isn’t. I like how the ending is both unexpected and isn’t, because on hindsight you could see it coming :D

the wedding march - Wes/Travis. Going undercover as a couple to lure in a thieving wedding planner turns out to be not as easy as Wes thought. And he always thought it would be complicated as fuck. Twisty, difficult emotions wrapped in everyone's favourite cliche. Delicious.

Okay, so I’m not quite done with Daredevil yet. I should probably watch it one of these days as well, eh? Oh well, there’s some other stuff here too.

Daredevil (TV)

Bang Bang - Matt/Foggy, AU. This is just unashamedly adorable and romantic, full of flirting and banter and feels. Matt is Matt, except happier, and Foggy is a cop who can’t quite make himself arrest him. There’s slow dancing and jewellery and Matt being a little creeper. The perfect cure for any sadness or bad days.

De Nile - Matt/Foggy. Foggy’s crush on Matt is so painfully obvious and Matt spends years of listening to his heartbeat and not saying anything because he’s not interested. He isn’t. Not really, not like that, not like Foggy deserves, like… Okay so maybe Matt’s viewpoint changes slightly as the years go by. This is just unashamedly… romantic, I think is the word, but the real kind, so tender it’s painful.

Encounters - Matt/Foggy, + The Avengers. The Avengers really want to get to know the Daredevil. The Daredevil does not feel the same. Hilarious. Also, Tony's reaction to the whole thing is entirely in character. You get to the end and nod because yes, this is exactly what Stark would do.

Just Our Hands Clasped So Tight - Matt/Foggy. Matt is a tactile guy. A great Foggy pov, and a long (10k), gorgeous ‘from friends to lovers’ fic that leaves you aching in a really good way. I love how clear Matt’s fears and vulnerabilities are even when he thinks he’s hiding them.

Just Wanna Take Him Home - Matt/Foggy, hooker AU. In which Foggy mostly escorts little old ladies and then is hired to cuddle a lawyer on the regular basis. Adorable fic with lot of touchy-feely (literally) feelings, soft blankets and achy angst.

Something Dumb to Do - Matt/Foggy. Ahhh 33k of ‘marriage of convenience’ fic :D Because it makes total sense to get married so that Foggy will never have to testify against Matt. Everything you love about ‘fake relationship turns into a real one’ trope: feelings, rings, family, kisses, misunderstandings, kidnappings. Okay, so the last one is a Daredevil speciality but it adds flavour. Delightful!

Tell You My Sins - Matt/Foggy. Being the Daredevil has its consequences, even to Matt's sex life... Oh my yes, this is hot with an excellently handled bdsm/rough sex theme. Matt's uncertainty is well portrayed and in character. Delicious!


Lord of the Rings

Moonlight in Minas Tirith - Merry/Pippin. In which there's a brief respite in Minas Tirith before the final battle, and Merry and Pippin have time to reunite. And move forward. In character, cute and sexy!


Star Trek AOS

Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe - Kirk/McCoy, background Spock/Uhura, modern Hollywood AU. In which Bones is a script writer sitting on an indie hit, and Kirk is a hotshot director desperate to make it happen. This is excellent insight into industry, where every character is interesting and well crafted (look out for some familiar names from TNG!) and every subplot as interesting as the main one. Long, satisfying read, thoroughly recced.


X-Men First Class

Math Reasons - Charles/Eriks, modern university AU. This is adorable and hits my ‘from friends to lovers’ button hard. The boys still have their powers and their differences, Charles is still in the wheelchair, things are not still not easy. But there’s also college parties and friendship and gleeful sexual experimentation (and much kudos for making this realistic with a disabled characters). Told in two timelines which jarred me first but actually ends up working well. All the supporting characters are awesome too. Long and highly recced.
