Desert Flower on AO3
The venom bleeds out with the night, gentle in the aftermath of its violent kiss, lingering like a lover who doesn’t want to leave but must. The sun rises, touches the soles of Gabe’s boots, the warmth stealing over his prone body in a dry caress.
There is sand between his fingers, behind his ears, the corners of his eyes gritty, his tongue tasting of acid and dreams. Gabe sits up, looks at his hands, the pink light blooming in the cradle of his palms like a promise.
He’s as alive as the new day, a gift he didn’t expect.
