End of Year Fic Roundup Meme
Here are the posted fics/drabbles/random-meme-answers-that-turned-into-mini-ficlets from 2007, alphabetised by fandom.
2007 has clearly been The Year Of The Drabble (35 of them, holy crap!) – not many longer fics got finished and posted, mainly because this year RL has been particularly eventful and taxing. There are several in WIP status that will hopefully see the light of the interwebs in the coming months.
Bandom RPS
Sketch the Sky (Patrick/Pete, PG-13)
There’s a cluster of stars on his skin, dark shapes spanning the pale flesh of his hip, trailing down to the top of his thigh in a gentle curve like a reverse Milky Way.
two of a kind // most compatible ride (Gabe/Pete, NC-17)
And fuck him, fuck Pete for turning Gabe into one of the groupies with his wide smile and narrow hips and easy meaningless touches and. “Yes. Yes,” Gabe says, planting his feet flat and thrusting up hard, meeting Pete half-way and making him choke, and goddamn, he’s going to fuck that attitude right out of him.
CW RPS
sudden as a storm, sweet as summer hay (Jared/Jensen, NC-17)
So, they're on this road trip, which was totally Jensen's idea, and Jared wasn't going to do it because a week alone with Jensen's smile and his 'fuck me' eyes and that little dip at the back of his neck that Jared absolutely did not want to nuzzle and smell first thing in the morning like a goddamn girl would be just too fucking much. But it's not like he's ever been able to say no to Jensen, so they're on a road trip, okay?
Doctor Who/Torchwood
Once Upon A Time (Jack/Ten, PG)
Before Jack has drawn enough breath to tell exactly what happens to people who argue semantics in the middle of a gnome siege, a round wrinkled face pokes through the foliage. Its thin lips peel back, revealing a row of razor sharp teeth that gleam impressively in the shadows.
truth exists for the wise, beauty for the feeling heart (Jack/Ten, PG)
“Never,” the Doctor whispers, bending down low over Jack’s shoulder and pressing the cool bottle into his hand, the condensation making their fingers slipslide and tangle briefly. “Never underestimate something just because they’re pretty to look at.”

Leather (Ianto/Jack, R)
Perks (implied Nine/Ten, PG)

Three Things About James Wilson (implied House/Wilson, PG-13)
Did Dr. Wilson have any dependents? Was there anyone who would find it difficult to – how should she put this? – to cope if something were to happen to him?
2 Drabbles:
Exclusive (House/Wilson, PG-13)
Spoon (House/Wilson, PG)
Life on Mars
1 Drabble:
Chunky Truffle (Gene/Sam, PG)
Original Slash
Not-A-Day (Danny/Michael, PG)

Robin Hood
Three Things About Guy of Gisbourne (Gen, PG-13)
The reality is that as much as Guy hates the Sheriff, he hates Marian more now. It’s a hate born out of love, and it burns him up, hollows him out; wakes him up in the middle of the night, gasping and hard and alone.
4 Drabbles:
All Hallows (Much/Robin, PG)
Earth (Much/Robin, R)
Fire (Much/Robin, PG-13)
Wool (Much/Robin, G)
Scrubs
3 Drabbles:
Family (Cox/JD pre-slash/ friendship, G)
Flicker (Cox/JD pre-slash/ friendship, PG)
President (Cox/JD pre-slash/ friendship, G)
Stargate Atlantis
Five Times Aiden Ford Was Put To Bed (bitextual, PG-13)
They still have names, his men, but each night he forgets them, just like he forgets his own. Words have become increasingly useless, and every month that goes by there are less things to talk about.
Season For All Things (Gen, Team-fic, PG-13)
From afar Teyla can’t tell Athosians and Atlantians apart; the clothing got shared months ago and there are no lines in the sand anymore, just knots of people, forming and unraveling at random.
Three Things About Carson Beckett (Gen, PG-13)
Now
Three Things About Radek Zelenka (Gen, PG)
The accent is an excuse, a protection, a permission, a way to stand out or to hide. It’s also a reminder, both to himself and to others, that being different isn’t always a bad thing.
Three Things About Rodney McKay (Gen, PG)
Occasionally Rodney wakes up for no apparent reason at all; one second he’s fast asleep and the next he’s lying amidst the crumbled sheets, listening to his own even breaths and the crashing of waves from the outside.
5 Drabbles:
Broken (McKay/Zelenka, PG-13)
Crime (implied McKay/Zelenka, PG-13)
Partings (McKay/Zelenka, PG)
Silk (McKay/Beckett, PG)
Water (McKay/Beckett, G)
Supernatural
Five Things About hustler!Sam (implied Dean/Sam, R)
The fifth guy is the first client Sam remembers. The first one he really hates too, because he’s the first to make him come.
Give Me Back The Berlin Wall (Dean/Sam, NC-17)
The mornings are always red and black, like volcanoes. A firestorm rides the world now; its epicentre, its living heart, beating right here in this room on the seventeenth floor of the last building standing.
The One With The Plan (and Body Shots) (Andy/Ash, R) – part of the anywhere_road
Andy moans something that sounds like an agreement and bucks up violently, and suddenly Ash’s mouth is full of desert – cactus and sweat and noon sun, and he drinks it all up, all the way to where road and sky blend together and the brakes come off.
Three Things About Ash (Gen, PG)
Ash flunked out after a year – not because he couldn’t do the work (because, dude, he could do it in his dreams with both hands tied up behind his back), but because he didn’t deal well with structure and held moral objections to the concept of deadlines and assignment specification.
Three Things About John Winchester (Gen, PG-13)
John Winchester never killed a man.
11 Drabbles:
Brother (Gen, PG)
Cake (Gen or mild Dean/Sam, PG-13)
Denim (Andy/Ash, PG-13)
Hunt (implied Dean/Sam, R)
Jog (Gen, PG)

Red (Dean/Sam, NC-17)
Safe (Gen or mild Dean/Sam, PG)
Song #56 (Gen, PG)
Stains (Dean/Sam, R)
Sun (Andy/Ash, PG)
The Professionals
2 Drabbles:
Cotton (Bodie/Doyle, PG-13)
Moon (Bodie/Doyle, PG)
My best story this year:
Without a doubt Give Me Back The Berlin Wall is the one I’m most proud of. Technique-wise, I’m really pleased with the structure. The story of course owes a huge debt to Leonard Cohen’s amazing lyrics/poetry which shaped both the content and style of the text.
Special mention goes to Teeth. I managed to creep the fuck out even myself so I’m counting that as a win.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Not-A-Day, but then it is original slash and a mood piece to the boot (meaning, not much happens) so its interest to anyone who isn’t me (and like secretly creating entire backstories and personalities for the characters) in understandably limited.
Fanfic-wise I can’t really complain like, at all. I’ve gotten a lot of amazing feedback this year, my stories have been recced at various places, some older ones have even been nominated for awards. My fandom cup, it overfloweth *wipes tears completely unironically*
I will, however, take the opportunity to once more pimp anywhere_road, a Supernatural AU ‘verse by
razorxrosary and myself. Yes, it’s Andy/Ash, which is apparently too zany for a lot of people, but give it a chance you guys! The ‘verse is just so awesome and fun to write and makes both of us go googly-eyed with love! That must be shared with the world!
Most fun story:
truth exists for the wise, beauty for the feeling heart and The One With The Plan (and Body Shots) were both an absolute breeze to write and I amused myself greatly with them. Hopefully that translates to the reader. The common thread here seems to be alcohol. Apparently I like writing drunken boys behaving slightly inappropriately, who knew?
Special mention: Phallic.
Fluffiest story:
sudden as a storm, sweet as summer hay – Unapologetic, self-indulgent schmoop. This is a story where the boys don’t just have sex, they make sweet, sweet love, m’kay? Seriously, I used the phrase he comes like he’s in love, which, seriously, you cannot get any fluffier than that, but whatevs, I still love it.
I would like to point out the oh-so-delicious irony of having written the fluffiest story of the year for pushkin666 , the queen of dark-fic/BDSM/non-con. Ahahahaaaaa. Um, ooops?
Most angsty story:
Give Me Back The
Sexiest story:
I guess this depends on your preferences. For the more romantically minded, it has to be sudden as a storm, sweet as summer hay. For some down-and-dirty action, it would be two of a kind // most compatible ride. On somewhat related note, I find it hugely amusing (and a little bit disturbing) that it took Bandom to bring out the PWP muses. I seem to manage to get people naked so much quicker than usual when writing bandslash… Not sure yet if this is a cause for \o/ or /o\
Single sexiest moment:
two of a kind // most compatible ride was one long sex-scene. Let’s summarise:
There are limits, Gabe’s sure of it, but he hasn’t come across them yet […] “I prefer to be the one getting fucked,” Pete says […] the sight of his own hands, almost large enough to circle Pete’s entire waist […] one hand wrapped around the base of his cock and the other curled behind him, arm muscles flexing […] the shape and weight of it on his tongue, down his throat, fast and ruthless and just this side of too much […] Gabe’s kind of struggling a little bit just so Pete has to do it harder […] meeting Pete half-way and making him choke, and goddamn, he’s going to fuck that attitude right out of him […] his hands are still where Pete put them and moving them doesn’t even occur to him […] not even sure it’s him Pete is really fucking right now […] their ribs lined closely together like joints of the same house.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Ahahaha, is there still such a thing as “wrong, even for you” left? If so, don’t tell me. (Wait, too late: razorxrosary already did when she suggested I write this.)
I was half-expecting Earth to get some outraged reactions, after all it was implied dodgy-con with Much/Robin pairing. Then again, it was probably more hard-core in my head than actually came through in a 100-word drabble. Or it’s possible that the canon dynamic is already so perilously close to this that no one thought twice about it.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Five Times Aiden Ford Was Put To Bed was written as a gift for moth2fic who is a big fan of Ford. I have always felt rather neutral toward his character so it was both a challenge and a revelation to build a backstory and try to get into his head like this. In the end I found myself really caring about him and feel I have a strong grip of his character now, in the off-chance I ever need/decide to write him again.
Hardest story to write:sga_santa secret fic exchange and the recipient wanted Gen Team-fic. I’m by default a slash writer so it takes effort the change gears. Moreover, when you take the romantic/sexual motivation/plot out you’re suddenly faced with the need to like, think up something real to say. It’s interesting that unlike most of my fics, this one involved quite detailed forward-planning in terms of structure and the actual content. Usually I have an initial idea/scene/phrase and the rest of the story flows rather organically from that once I start writing. In contrast, this fic was almost ready in my mind until I put a single word to paper.
Season For All Things may have been the hardest story to write but in a way it was also the most rewarding. Not only did I get to know Ronon, Teyla and John better but it made me stretch myself as a writer and that’s something I don’t do nearly enough, because I’m inherently lazy and like my little comfort zones. More than that, once I knew the feel/themes I wanted to convey with the story, I actually enjoyed writing it. It’s possible that there are more Gen/character-focussed stories in my future.
Biggest Disappointment:
The fact that I didn’t finish more of my WIPs. There are at least two major fic projects that I hoped to finish in 2007 but both are still in limbo. This year, I swear!
Biggest Surprise:
Probably the Professionals drabbles. Here’s a fandom where I occasionally read but never planned to write in and never would have except moth2fic asked and I find it hard to refuse her anything.
Some of the comments on the Chunky Truffle blew me away a bit. I’m not sure if I wanted to be remembered by some LoM fans as “the chick who wrote that really kinky BDSM fic ages ago” but… Um. Yeah.
The fact that I fell down the
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Such an evil question this. None of the stories were particularly personal to me this time around, not like Points of Origin was the previous year. In a more general trend I may have expounded on various kinks through my fics, some of which are obvious if you read between the lines…
Any comments on my fics are welcome, as always. Don’t be afraid to drop some concrit my way.
