Today I have made some marginal progress with my teaching study portfolio (which I am now less than affectionately calling 'Reflect on This' assignment in my head), been a victim of banana theft (I can't prove it but I know it happened) and finished writing over 5k of Harry/Draco tentacle porn which I have sent off to [livejournal.com profile] margaret_r for beta.

Today is also the last day of July and thus the last and 31st day on consecutive posting I have done this month, together with [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666 and [livejournal.com profile] lolabobs joined in on the fun at some point too. It's been... hard at times to find something different to post about every day, especially when my touchpad was acting up a lot and trying my patience (it's much better now btw, thank fuck) but it's been pretty awesome too and has pushed me to post things that I probably would have procrastinated over much longer otherwise, including the most awesome porn meme which was a lot of fun!

I hope you've enjoyed at least some of the posts and aren't too sick of me yet. Thank you to everyone who has commented and thank you to everyone who brightens up my flist with their own posts. I'll be taking a little bit of a breather from posting, but guaranteed I can't stay away from it too long, as I have things that are still in the queue.

So, maybe a little preview of What Next?

  • [livejournal.com profile] unmarked_place Patrick/Pete porn

  • above mentioned Harry/Draco tentacle porn

  • summer challenge fics for [livejournal.com profile] lewis_challenge and [livejournal.com profile] evilsam_spn when I have, erm, actually written them

  • more 50 Books Challenge

  • more 50 Recipes Challenge

  • undoubtedly more real life whining

  • requested icons from here - btw if you said you'd be back to leave me a picture/text prompt and you haven't yet, now would be the time. There are also still three open request places left.

  • Week of Poetry on [livejournal.com profile] boneverse, although I will probably combine a masterlist of sorts on this journal too. Details here if you are interested in joining me for that 5-11 of August.

So, with all of that in mind I shall only say... later! And pass the challenge to you! Who among you will pledge to post Something Everyday in the Month of August? Is it you? Or you? Or you there at the back...?

Today's post is pretty to say that I can't properly post or write on the laptop again because the touchpad is doing its own thing again. I think it is the heat and humidity that are contributing to the problem and that it'll be better tomorrow. Otherwise I will probably have a tantrum.

It has been hot as balls today, way too hot to brain properly. Way, way too hot to sit in the meetings and in buses as I've been doing for most of the day. Thankfully, the weather is set to break tomorrow.

I have a ton of work to churn out over the next three weeks and very variable levels of motivation to do it. Ah well.

This post is devoid of substance. Instead, have some...cat macros )

Well. I was going to post some photos or book reviews or maybe ramble about my holiday or, say, how I got commended on the external examiner's report for an 'innovative' practice on assessment (I totally did but it totally wasn't that innovative, bless my tiny university) but...

But.

I've gotten four spam comments today all on payday loans and while I have grown increasingly irritated by them, they have also become increasingly hilarious. Below is the latest. With scathing commentary.

***

Subject: What you need to do to released a hasty Online Loans 727

Released you say? Well, the increasing spam is making me feel a bit like a prisoner, true...

There is nothing easier and quicker than getting a payday loan online via our company. Our enterprise is based in the Canada and USA and we're specialzied in short-term loans. If you are curently looking on some sell to cover some emergences until you bring back your next paycheck, then we can come forward a result concerning you.

It's almost too easy. But your translation bot/slave can spell 'enterprise' but not 'currently'? I just bet you are looking on some sell too.

We put up for sale teeny payday loans online to our customers. We can loan you any amount of filthy lucre from $100 to $1000 anyhow if this is your first beat borrowing from us then the zenith amount of money you can borrow is $1000. As the statistics shows our clients as usual obtain up to $700 looking for a month in the average.

I don't know where you come from mate, but around here 'filthy lucre' does not equal 'teeny'. Certainly not on the first beat. If you get my zenith.

We do our a-one in harmony to manufacture our website as convenient in place of you as practical so you can rumble all the needed information inasmuch as taking a payday loan swiftly and easy. We alone bumf into distinguishable sections according to the topics and needs of our customers. We’re unfaltering it won’t be a predicament for the purpose you to espy d‚mod‚ all the inexorable details relative to the nice of payday credit you are looking for.

The more you talk, the more intrigued I am. It's not everyday a lady gets an offer to rumble an easy bumf, and I must say I am seeing the potential in the inexorable   details of this predicament to espy.

You arrange to concede that with $100 to $1000 you are skilful to take tend of a lot of problems.

Oh baby, I really am. I will take tend of your problems like they've never been taken tend of before.

You can’t be ready to all kinds of situations that can happen to you. A consignment of our customers put up with payday loans in the USA and Canada in order to front some difficulty expenses such as medical bills or to choose a leaking briar in the house.

Who would choose a leaking briar? I mean, you're not even saying that a leaking briar just happens, like an 'emergence', (though I'm not sure that's possible either), but that I would actually choose it. Because, what? Water-tight briars are just so passée?

Anyway there are no restrictions for what you have to throw away your moneyed on; it is unconditionally all up to you. There is pretty much the just one-liner condition as a service to you that you are qualified to requite your http://123paydayloan.co.uk/ (http://123paydayloan.co.uk/).

Incidentally, I don't know whether this company is actually behind these spams. But as there is no form of contact on their website other than the application process I can't directly express my anger at them via a vicious email. Though if I find one I will send this commentary to them. See how do they like 'em briars.

As prolonged as you can do that, you are entirely emancipated to do whatever you call for with your money. We don’t demand our customers such questions.

How very gracious of you. Now stand still while I emancipate you from your testicles, you money-leeching syntax-challenged little maggot.

***

Well. That made me feel better. Now only if my briars would stop leaking...

Greetings and salutations! (I occasionally use that greeting at the start of a lecture and it always makes the wee 18-year-olds look slightly alarmed, it's great)

Anyway. In a combined effort to liven up LJ, both [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666 and I will be posting something every day in the month of July. *pauses to give you time to digest the momentous joy this no doubt elicits* For an organised schedule of ficlets, memes, pictures, writing prompts etc you should head over to [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666's journal. Here on my journal you will encounter the usual, only now at more frequent rate: disorganised rambling, whining, and occasional fic.

I've been enjoying a week's epic holiday with [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666 during which we, among other things, did tequila shots, sang power ballads, slashed historical figures, scored a free penthouse stay for a night, and oh yes, finished our first novel :D More on all of those later this week, including photos. Today was a first day back at "work", meaning I sat in the garden with a laptop, catching up with emails and faffing about with a lot of other stuff that felt necessary but probably didn't actually progress anything.

Still, I got so distracted by writing up awesome essay questions that by the time I looked up I would've had to run to make it to the train I need to catch for my belly-dancing class. So, that's a second week on a row I skipped that. I did, however, finally tested out my new Wii Fit Plus. I have some minor gripes with it, mainly that I can't change from imperial to metric on measurements, and that I can't delete the previous owners' avatars as they are password protected. Still, the exercises themselves were fun the few I tried tonight, although I'm undeniably crap at most things. Still, it was enjoyable and I am certain I'll get on it regularly.

Right, I can't actually think straight any more (the weather is making me muzzy and headachy) so it's time to eat my last pancake and sign off for tonight.

It’s been very quiet around LJ for a while (at least on my flist, where are all you people?) but, for me, the other social networking platforms just don’t fill the hole of blogging and interacting and talking with people and writing about things at length, like LJ does. So, in a concentrated effort to be a part of the solution, not the problem, I’m doing something inspired by the 100 Things Challenge (sadly, it doesn’t seem to be updating any more so I haven’t officially signed up).

*pause for collective snort of disbelief.

Yes, it’s true. No, I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it but that’s not really the point for me. The point is to have a reason for creating LJ content and to do the things that I have signed up to do. I’ve divided the 100 things into two groups, so I’m doing 50 books I've read with short reviews (including work-related academic books) and 50 recipes I’ve tried/created with comments. Doing both with only a few months' 'backlog' so everything is recent stuff, not something I read/cooked years ago.

I’ll be posting both in the groups of 5 as I finish the books/recipes so watch out for those under the relevant tags.

***

Speaking of quiet LJ and creating content, I have two other ideas but I would like to know if anyone (read: YOU) would be interested in joining in and pimping them. Because otherwise I’ll be all sad and pathetic :(

Idea 1. Fandom-friendly friending meme, tentatively titled ‘Still LJ’ing!’ – I’ve seen a couple single-fandom ones going on and then I’ve seen some general ones, but a) I’m chronically multifandom and b) the latter sometimes appears to attract people who are vehemently anti-fandom, which makes me sad.

Idea 2. Anonymous porn meme – For people to talk about porn/erotica (fanfic, commercial fic, pics, art, clips, films etc.), e.g. likes, dislikes, turn-ons, turn-offs, recs, opinions, dirty jokes, serious commentary, requests, fills, random porny ficlets…

So… thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Dear students,

Contrary to belief, reading essays that reference my lecture notes (instead, you know, proper sources) will not make me happy. It makes me annoyed. Flattery does not work when it's just laziness.

Your lecturer.

Dear slave S,

That text was a serious miscalculation. Your only saving grace is that you apologised and didn't argue.

Context for extra creepster points: idly plotting the new original m/m story based on two real people we observed in a book shop/cafe the other day. One of whom (Joseph, not real name obvs) was considerably younger than the other (Martin).

[livejournal.com profile] kat_lair: maybe martin is pushing him away for his own good
[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666: maybe he's concerned he's corrupting joseph slighty.
[livejournal.com profile] kat_lair: lol
[livejournal.com profile] kat_lair: he probably is
[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666: i know.  and oh yeah he really is corrupting joseph
[livejournal.com profile] kat_lair: teaching him to be good sub
[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666: teaching him to keep martin happy
[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666: how to be of service, to like being on his knees, to wait for Martin's attention.
[livejournal.com profile] kat_lair: be happiest on his knees with martin's cock in his mouth
[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666: Martin's hands in his hair
[livejournal.com profile] kat_lair: erm. when we put it like that it all does sound a bit... problematic.

Things that are not right: A SPIDER ON MY CHOCOLATE. Eww, just reached for a piece of chocolate that was sitting on my bookshelf and there was a spider on it, which then scrambled frantically away while I screamed like a little girl. Why, why there spider, WERE YOU EATING IT? More importantly, can I still eat it?

Fuck, this is like some kind of nightmarish aversion diet.

The next door neighbour has now played this fucking song on repeat like fifteen times. Have finally snapped and put FOB on really loud with the speakers facing the wall.

This after my upstairs neighbours decided to have a domestic at 5am, after which one of them left and the dog howled after her for an hour until she came back and took the dog too. IDK what is going on there, god damn teen lesbian drama.

Then I had a dream where I was holding a lecture and everything went wrong; technology failure, forgot notes, students left etc. Thanks a lot subconscious.

Not in the best of moods today.

Um horror film inspired dildos. The tentacle monster one is delightful but I draw a line at the authentic zombie cock. Ew.

However, Steampunk sex toys!!! (waaaaaaaants) - lol the testimonials are funny.

Finally, what do the professional male dancers on Strictly do when they have to practice and their female partners are elsewhere? They practice anyway. Like pros.

Both hilarious and undeniably hot. (James' srs face!)

Happy Sunday, have some stuff.

-    My cats are playing tag, it’s hilarious. It’s fairly warm today so I have the backdoor open. Basically, they’re running back and forth between the lounge and the back yard, Tricks chasing Perdie one way and Perdie chasing Tricks back the other way. For two such small cats they make enough noise that is sounds like a herd of wildebeest trampling all over my flat

-    That, however, is nothing compared to the continuous screeching from the woman next door. She has three children, who are far less loud than their mother. I swear to god this woman has no normal volume of voice, all she does is shout all the time. I just want to tape her mouth shut.

-    Dear Internet. Last night [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666 and I wrote over 4,000 words of angsty porn about Strictly Come Dancing judges (Craig/Bruno). I am so very, very sorry. Except for how it's kind of smoking hot. Still, am frightened about posting it eventually, because, well... Let’s just say that my recent experiences in writing RPS in small non-existing fandoms have left me very protective of my fourth wall...

-    My Torchwood [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan fic is making progress and the end is almost in sight. This is mostly thanks to [livejournal.com profile] margaret_r and [livejournal.com profile] zeitheist and their invaluable help. Ladies, I will email the finished product to you within a few days.

-    Shout out to my fabulous Finngirls! Yesterday’s post brought me a coaster! With some very, very disturbing and rude messages about Chad Michael Murray, fuck holes and Hardycorn (...which I imagine is some sort of unholy morphosis of Tom Hardy and an unicorn – frightening!). I’m not quite sure what it was all about, but I liked it! Thank you so much, you have no idea how much that brightened my day!

-    It was a good day for post yesterday as I also got my Adam Lambert tickets! \o/

-    The inaugural [livejournal.com profile] northwest_fen meet is next weekend the 16th of October. If you haven’t already joined and/or pimped the comm, you should do so immediately :D

-    Let’s finish with some links:
* [livejournal.com profile] moth2fic vs. Portuguese Telecom: A tale of triumph and tragedy. And you thought your internet provider was bad...
* [livejournal.com profile] moth2fic has also been having some interesting issues with YouTube and G-Mail. Maybe you can help? Or at least offer condolences...
* Yeo Valley Rap – These farmers are rolling in their Masseys, chucking cold milk whilst bailing hay. Yo. The owl is my favourite. Also Daisy.
* Smell Like A Monster – Sesame Street does Old Spice Guy. Crying. With laughter. Oh god, genius.
* Shot-for-Shot Remake of Goofy Movie – Awe-inspiring.
* Sharktopus Trailer – Oh SyFy your movies are pure gold. There’s a theme song. And some really mind-bogglingly bad CGI and acting. SHARKTOPUS!
* Finally, something more serious: It Gets Better Project - Messages of hope for the LGBT youth.
