The next door neighbour has now played this fucking song on repeat like fifteen times. Have finally snapped and put FOB on really loud with the speakers facing the wall.

This after my upstairs neighbours decided to have a domestic at 5am, after which one of them left and the dog howled after her for an hour until she came back and took the dog too. IDK what is going on there, god damn teen lesbian drama.

Then I had a dream where I was holding a lecture and everything went wrong; technology failure, forgot notes, students left etc. Thanks a lot subconscious.

Not in the best of moods today.

Eek, I hope the neighbours shut up and your day becomes more peaceful!

Silence has descended, thankfully. Well, except for me as I was practising a lecture out loud *g*

I so know how you feel. One of our neighbours drilled last night after 1 a.m. and stopped only after my bf yelled really loudly. Then they started again at 6.30 !!!!

What are these ppl ffs! Who drills at that time of the night/morning? Craziness. Hopefully your neighbours are done with the DIY...

Urgh. If they're going to do that they should have the decency to have something GOOD on.

Go you. Do the petty thing. I once woke up the people who'd kept me up until 2am (when I'd asked nicely once, and less nicely twice for them to shut up) at 5.30am when I left for London by holding their doorbell down until they answered. It's very satisfying. :)

Can you give my lecture for me tomorrow? I have written it, there are powerpoints and copious notes.

(Also, if the May northern fen meet is one of the last two weekends in May, I can almost certainly be there. If you want me, naturally!)

IKR. Upstairs couple also plays music loud occasionally, but I don't mind nearly as much as more than half of it is stuff that gets a nod of approval from me.

I did the petty thing because actually going around to ask her to turn it down felt like too much effort.

Lol, maybe we should change lectures? I too have powerpoints and notes. Also many videos.

Oooh, this is entirely possible. There was another member who was thinking of maybe hosting the May one so I guess it would depend on them... But regardless I have an air mattress for you, so no worries about that. March is too crazy busy for anything to happen then, but I'll put a poll up about April dates at some point.

It's still frustrating. Part of me wonders how rude it is to buy a set of headphones and post it through the door with a note saying that now they don't have to worry about getting them.

Ah, I try and do the adult thing at least once. But then I always win when it's down to petty. :)

We could, but my hatred is mostly of giving lectures. But it happened and it's over. *g* Videos though? That sounds more exciting, I found lots of pictures of 1918 soldiers and NHS posters. Or and a pig in a pumpkin. *g*

April is a nogo, I've got my final exams at the beginning of May so will be making far too good friends with my textbooks / medical journals.

Aww, that would be awesome. :) I shall keep an eye on the comm. *g*

Ah, neighbours. The reason I would like to live in an isolated cottage somewhere at least six miles from any form of civilisation (six miles being an entirely walkable distance for me when I want to go to the pub...)

I'm not sure about the six mile walk to the pub, but a cottage by the sea is my dream accommodation.

It fulfills that pesky need for exercise, whilst simultaneously discouraging impromptu visitors.

So...why do we both live in cities then?

...because no one has yet offered to pay me to stay in a seaside cottage with 18 cats and write porn. Okay, I mean, I wouldn't mind like doing some lecture tours occasionally. But mostly I want to become a hermit poet. Not much income in that though.

So, we're holding out for those respective lottery wins then? That's always been my excuse.

Absolutely. Or for the universe to recognise my brilliance in some other way that nevertheless includes a substantial monetary component. And pie.

*nodnodnod* I can see how pie would be the dealbreaker there
