A Time for Renewal on AO3


Ryan picks the spring equinox. Spencer won’t know the significance of the date, but he will. There are hundreds of poems and songs about the tipping point of light over darkness, full of metaphors about hope and renewal. 

Ryan thinks about writing one himself but if the words were going to work, they would’ve done so already. Besides, words are safe. This is about being brave, about being scared but doing it anyway. 

So, he leaves his notebooks, leaves the house, drives over, knocks on the door. 

And when Spencer opens it, Ryan offers no words. Only his open hands.
