Eternal Song on AO3
Awareness returns slowly, the familiar sound of the waves filtering in through the open window, the eternal song of the sea as reassuring as always. He’s home, he’s safe, the nightmare already fading.
Waking up in the middle of the night is nothing new. Not waking up alone is.
Jimmy shifts carefully, Duncan’s arm sliding around his waist but not dislodging.
He’s fast asleep, little snuffling snores escaping on every exhale. Jimmy makes a mental note to tease him about it tomorrow. For now, he shuffles closer, resting his head on Duncan’s chest, hearing the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
