I was tagged by
claudia_writes like a week ago and I'm only now getting to it.
Post the explanation of where your user name came from. Then tag four users whose explanations you would like to hear. If you are tagged, post your explanation to your page.
My user name was my e-mail address long before I got an LJ. "Kat" is what most people call me and a shorter version of my real name. I really like cats too so I always associate with them. "Lair" of course means (and I quote from dictionary) "a den or resting place of a wild animal" or "a secluded or hidden place, esp. a secret retreat or base of operations; a hideout or hideaway" and as such it's very appropriate. My LJ is where I rest and hide from RL...
Uncharacteristically I'm actually going to tag people this time around, because this seems like a good way to satisfy my curiosity. So,
entangled_now,
murgatrude,
planetkiller, and
wliberation, consider yourselves tagged!
PS. Have you read all the wonderful fic I recced last week yet? If not, WHY NOT? Seriously people, it's all glorious. I'll be pimping more of my F-list this week so stay tuned.

on 2007-03-25 07:30 pm (UTC)Interestingly, in the UK I use the name as a measure of intimacy sometimes, i.e. at work/uni I use the full name, while friends call me Kat. But then again I introduce myself as Kat to fleeting acquaintances/people I don't plan on telling much about myself, because full name will always lead to prolonged explanations...
And that was probably a much longer answer than you expected :)
