SPN 2.13 Houses of the Holy
Feb. 3rd, 2007 08:12 pmYes. TV-Evangelists are creepy fuckers. RUN NOW.
Wait, isn't that the alien Mulder saw in Little Green Men... aaaaaand I've jsut dated myself there. Oh x-files, you were the most awesome thing ever.
Girl: Good morning, you're not the usual guy.
Sam in male nurse's uniform: No, just filling in.
Me: And oh my, you certainly are... *drools*
OMG MAGIC FINGERS! Dean's ecstasy face! Sam's little swallow of 'notlookingnotlooking' and "you're kinda enjoying it too much Dean, it's making me uncomfortable"
Oh Jesus H. Christ, I swear they're feeding us this stuff with a spoon, SPOON I tell ya!
Conversations into the bathroom, Dean giving Sam a once over...
Also: Angels. Is someone going to sprout wings next? God I really hope so...
AHAHAHAAAAAAAA UNICORNS!!!
Sam's mock broken "Wait, there's no such thing as unicorns?" *bottom lip wobble* had me howling
Oh Dean, not believing in angels because
They haven't ditched the car? Not that I want them to abandon the Metallicar, but it's a bit conspicuous?
WTF Sam's spider sense tingles... I'm predicting bodies in the basement!
Aaaaaaaaand I'm correct! Either I'm the almighty Plot-Kat or the clues are getting easier
Dean's magic fingers addiction is both adorable and oddly erotic... Which is what Sam seems to think. Push that pleasure button, mm-mm.
Okay, B&E had never been so hot than when it's done by the Winchester brothers, but for the love of God boys, BUY SOME FRIGGING LATEX GLOVES. Fingerprints dude! DNA! Jeesh!
Sam's Computer-Fu is powerful today... Dean is impressed despite himself. And of course it was an internet paedophile...
Ahahaha, this priest is not having any of their bullshit
How uncomfortable does Dean look in this scene?
Oh Boys! The whole praying conversation broke my heart... Dean's face... I, I feel decidedly fragile.
On shallow note: Jensen's freckles!
Sam! With the Angel! And Dean's "there's nothing but random unpredictable evil that comes out from nowhere and rips you to shreds" Oh Boys, my heart weeps, it really does.
Sammy speaking Latin is as hot as Dean doing it.
In fact, I'm expecting an explosion of religiously themed fic (priest!kink) after this episode... What's that? Oh yes, I am going to hell...
Oh the crushing disappointment on Sam's face when the spirit appears.
Dean to the rescue! Car-chase! Bizarro death.
Right. The themes of salvation and redemption runnind throughout this episode were handled really well and not too heavy-handedly. Both JA and JP were in top form. I liked the old Father and the whole scene between him and Gregory's spirit was very powerful.
Perhaps you're thinking I've forgotten something here... Namely, the conversation between Sam and Dean in the end. Well, I haven't. The simple fact is that I... I can't really talk about it yet. The sense of intimacy and aloneness, just the two of them wrapped up in each other and this life they lead and the fragile hope, faith that maybe, just maybe there's something more out there and I... I was literally crying there and... I've got nothing more. Just utterly wrung out. *goes to cry into her pillow*

on 2007-02-03 10:57 pm (UTC)First - The Most Important Point of this Comment - Sam should always wear white scrubs because I say so!
OMG MAGIC FINGERS! Dean's ecstasy face! Sam's little swallow of 'notlookingnotlooking' and "you're kinda enjoying it too much Dean, it's making me uncomfortable" - was that not the most random but yet fabulous scene ever to have reared its shaggy head on SPN? It's the look of utter bliss on his face, followed by the devastation that no more quarters brings.
Sam's mock broken "Wait, there's no such thing as unicorns?" *bottom lip wobble* had me howling - Snap. It was the delivery I think. I actually had a problem with a lot of the writing in this ep but the two J's always seem to make up for any script issues I have with their acting.
Speaking of acting? Jared was heck of a good this week, was he not?
On shallow note: Jensen's freckles! - Guh. I repeat, guh. That is all I have to say on that matter.
Dean to the rescue! Car-chase! Bizarro death. - See I took that to be a reflection of the angel holding the lance/sword in the painting from earlier in the episode. But it's entirely likely I'm reading too much into that as I am wont to do.
One thing that irked me though - I just assumed that the church was supposed to be Roman Catholic, but if that was the case then those were some weird ass last rites the priest delivered.
The last scene was beautifully done and worked as a perfect set-up for the angst-thon they're setting up for next week *bites nails* I cried actual tears. Poor boys. I just want to cuddle them and feed them cookies.

on 2007-02-04 10:41 am (UTC)See, I pretend you do these posts especially for me and thus, I feel special. - well, practically speaking I do! You're the only one who ever comments on these anyway... AND I WUV U FOR THAT 'K?
The whole magic fingers bit was just comedy gold. Sam's jealous: "I'm not feeding your sick addiction!" Oh man, genius!
I actually had a problem with a lot of the writing in this ep but the two J's always seem to make up for any script issues I have with their acting. - word. The final scene... in less capable hands the lines would've just sounded pompous and empty but here the delivery made it heartfelt and almost painful (in a good way) to watch.
And yes, Jared's stepped up his acting-mojo hugely this season.
I took that to be a reflection of the angel holding the lance/sword in the painting from earlier in the episode. - aaah, see that's brilliant. I got the whole one-in-a-billion-chance = divine intervention thing but didn't make the comparison to the Archangel Michael painting... cool!
I just assumed that the church was supposed to be Roman Catholic, but if that was the case then those were some weird ass last rites the priest delivered. - Lutheran background here so that didn't ping on my radar at all.
The last scene... It's like they keep upping the emotional impact and devastation left behind every week and there's going to be mass death before the season ends if this continues. And I freely admit I was tearing up.
