Torchwood Finale

I wanted to do this last night, but had already turned the computer off. However, the delay has not dampened my utter and heartfelt GLEE.
Torchwood Finale was... AWESOME! and SO HOT!
I can't remember the last time I was so riveted. I sat in attention the whole hour and half, with my jaw literally hanging open. After each scene I thought 'this is surely it, they can't top this' and THEN THEY DID!

I can't remember the last time I was so riveted. I sat in attention the whole hour and half, with my jaw literally hanging open. After each scene I thought 'this is surely it, they can't top this' and THEN THEY DID!
The plot! With the creepy Billis who was so obviously evil you'de need to be blind (or work for Torchwood) not to see it. And Tosh being Japanese and yes omg, not popular in 1941 England. And writing equations with her own blood!"
Jack! And the original Jack. And the subtle desperate yearning looks and I was dying. And dancing *cries* I worried so for the original Jack who will get gay-bashed the second the camera panned away, but maybe it was worth it because HOW HOT WAS THAT KISS? I almost spontaneously combusted on the spot!
And Owen! Owen and Ianto (is it wrong that I wanted them to have angry sex?). And Ianto's "Jack needs me". Gwen's scene over Rhys's death was so realistic it hurt, I was bawling like a baby. Owen shooting Jack and then the ending with the tears and the hugs and why the fuck was the Ianto/Jack kiss cut so quickly? Also: Ianto's Brokeback moment with Jack's jacket! *weeps from the slashiness*
THE DEVIL!!! (was that the same devil from DW?). Jack on his knees, screaming! And he died, twice! And then came back, twice. And the FINAL SCENE OMG SQUEE! "Who would have persuaded you?" "The right kind of Doctor." aaaaahhh! People have wanted that to happen so bad but no one believed the ywould actually do it, but THEY DID! When the severed hand started twitching I was all "No Way!" And then we could hear the Tardis sound and I was vibrating with excitement so hard I fell of the sofa (literally) and AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
WHEN IS THE NEXT SERIES??? Did the devil suck all the extra lives out of Jack? Can he die for real now? Was that really the Doctor? Will Jack beg to stay with him? What makes him not to, in the end? Will Gwen and Rhys make it? Is there any hope for Owen? Is Jack really shagging Ianto? Will Tosh get more action scenes where she can look gorgeous and incredibly well-dressed. Will they ever have a Torchwood orgy with alien sex-pollen? I NEED TO KNOW!

on 2007-01-02 07:00 pm (UTC)yeah, they could've played the dancing as a joke but the kiss was so achingly real that there was no room for denials after that. And he may dies soon, but man... what a last kiss!
And i have seen none of this show, Ihave no investment in the characters other than jack from DW itself, yet the power of this had me wailing. So intense. Wasn't it, so raw and realistic. That's what fresh, devastating grief is like, mindless and not pretty. Rhys is Gwen's long-term live-in boyfriend, who is just incredibly sweet and funny and understanding (and Gwen, the bitch... er. how are you about spoilers for the rest of the episodes?)
But I loved that the Jack/Ianto kiss was 'ignored' almost. I loved the fact that it was matter of fact. It was just Jack kissing him without big fanfare of drama. Seemed to mean more to me that way. Yes, in that way it was truly lovely and understated. But the shallow, horny fangirl in me wanted to see more, just a few seconds more.
and the "right kind of doctor" bit, with the tardis and Jack - Oh I was soooooo excited. Laughing in glee! Yes, I was flapping like a wounded goose, squealing loudly enough to scare stray cats on two-mile radius.
we still have Jack to realise that it's no longer Nine, plus he kissed Ianto - obv I with no knowledge of what's gone on before, but will that be what brings him back to Torchwood? Will it be self sacrificial or will it just be woe and not bonding as Ten. Oh God they have to bond as Ten!
I have no words for how much I'm looking forward to Ten/Jack interaction. And whether Jack knows about Rose or not... or will Ten have to tell him (my throat seizes up from just thinking about that scene). LOts of people think it will be Ianto who brings him back but... see above on my answer to
I'm sure there'll be repeats!

on 2007-01-02 10:20 pm (UTC)I said (in gist!) that as I haven't been watching, and can't guarantee to catch the back episodes I have no qualms over retro spoilers - and would probably find them helpful for the new series of Dr.Who
I then got very excited as an idea popped up! I thought at first that maybe Jack would leave the doctor because he would realise that He would never be able to give him his whole heart (Iknow, Iknow he has two.) But then..
I think, what if they reunite, and it's as beautiful and powerful and intense as we all wish it - and it's going to be wonderful, and they need never be alone again - then they realise that the shadow death monster thing from last night took all of Jack's eternity thingie away - (there could be a near death experience, some h/c maybe and some lovely comfort snuggling!) - and as they realise Jack's mortality, they see the eternity snatched away. Jack walks away now to spare the doctor the pain of loving him and seeing him die and age. oh, the farewell could knock Rose's goodbye into a cocked hat!
(oh and then, Ianto would look after Jack, who'd be bitter and sad and very isolated for a while, and could woo him. And they'd do the do, but Jack would say that he can't be his, 'cos he'll always love the doctor - and Ianto will say that he doesn't mind and he can love enough for two. Oh and Jack would hold him and kiss him and say "maybe that's enough" (and this can be right at the end of the next series or something) and they'd have one night together, but then Jack would wipe Ianto's memories and release him from Torchwood.
Sorry, but carried away - good job I don't actually watch the show isn't it!

on 2007-01-03 09:27 am (UTC)I don't think Jack is opposed to sharing someone's heart(s) perse, as long as he's in the group (9/Rose/Jacl OT3 for the WIN). I really like your idea of it being Jack who leaves the Doctor for his own good (cue Doctor angst of extreme).
And your scenario with Ianto sounds (sadly) more plausible than a complete 'happy-ever-after'. However, and you obviously didn't know this, Ianto's feelings for Jack are everything but clear. In an early episode it turned out that Ianto was hiding his half-human, half-cyberwoman girldfriend in the cellar, trying everything in his power to fix her and make her fully human again. Of course it all went wrong as she went on a killing rampage, resulting in lot of guns being pointed in all directions (Jack and Inato threatening to kill each other in turn) and Jack killing her in the end. So. ANGST. And darkness and bitter, broken Ianto, who is all smooth and polite on the surface but...
And once the reruns hit the screen you totally will watch the show. And there's always dvds...
