*procrastinates*

So hey, I should be packing, but instead I'm eating a cherry yoghurt and listening to Planet Rock. Procrastination ftw!
Things:
- Got all 26 project proposal feedbacks written and emailed off in time.
- Went to see the new Harry Potter movie with
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
- Ex-Housemate-of-Awesome and her bf are coming to get Perdie and Tricks today. Undoubtedly there will be kitty trauma as not only is it a new house but B and bf have a new kitten of their own now so... I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm fretting over how Perdie and Tricks are going to cope; they're my baaaaaaaabies.
- Strictly Come Dancing finale tonight!!! Only one person on my flist shares my enthusiasm about this but yayyyyyyyyy!!!
- Am up to date with Glee now. I have feelings about it and they mostly revolve around wanting to adopt Kurt.
- Also finished Ugly Betty. The finale made me cry. Ngl, Betty and Daniel is my id-pairing and I ship it hard. Shut up and point me to some decent fic.
First line (I took this to mean paragraph rather than sentence - although sometimes first sentence = first whole paragraph) of fic written each month.
January: - (no fic posted this month)
February: Some people never find the love of their life. The one that makes you soar to the heights of happiness, or plunge to the depths of despair, sometimes both at the same time. That great love that you would do anything to keep, the one that fills you with so much mixed-up emotion that some days you can’t tell what it is that you’re feeling, just that your heart aches from it.
From Access All Areas or: How Spencer Smith Got His Groove Back
March: Gabe finds Pete outside a Seven-Eleven, eating a chocolate bar in blood-stained sneakers. Or Pete finds Gabe, or they find each other. Either way, like recognises like, or some such bullshit.
From stranger-friends
April: Three days after killing his wife for the second time, Bobby wheels himself into the kitchen and finds Castiel at the table, eating one of her cherry pies.
From Life Is Bigger
May: Camelot is burning. Thick black smoke winds around the turrets, up and up until it covers the sky.
From that’s how the light gets in
June: Patrick has a weakness for M&M’s, which he is painfully aware of. So he restricts his intake, allocating the confectionary to 'emergencies only’ category.
From Patrick Stump Emergency Procedure (capitals obligatory)
July: Old Spice Guy is in the middle of recording another special video response when the call comes in. He drops his bottle of Old Spice deodorant and the sack of rattlesnakes and goes to have a look.
From Improbable
August: The car smells like gasoline and yesterday’s perfume. Beyoncé drives fast and hard, the only way she knows how to, the only way it’s worth doing. On the passenger seat Gaga is asleep, her hands curled in her lap, long nails pointing up to the sky. The chopper is gone; ran out of fuel before they did.
From left my head and my heart on the dance floor
September: The heavens open approximately three-point-five seconds after Frank steps out of the signing tent and lights his first cigarette in fuck knows how long. He’s not sure which hits him the hardest; the nicotine or the pounding rain that arrives from seemingly out of nowhere.
From Crackle
October: The first time they had sex was because Ianto was drowning in his grief and it was like a life raft; not a rescue, just a way to keep afloat a little longer. If there was one thing Jack was good at it was knowing how to survive.
From the odds are there to beat
November: Craig is stressed. This is nothing new; being a regular on live TV means he spends a considerable amount of his hours operating at some level of stress, but tonight he’s being even snappier than usual, edging towards outright and indiscriminate meanness. And that could be a problem. They go on air in just over an hour and it might be bad form even for him to rip the celebrities to shreds this early in the series.
From Closed Change – Part 1/3 (co-authored with

December: Lindsey feels it under her skin, in the base of her skull; the terrible restless need that twists and churns in her chest like a tornado. She breathes slow and measured, tasting electricity at the back of her teeth.

on 2010-12-18 12:45 pm (UTC)But nah, I've just spent most of the week doing them so that I could get them sent off by Friday's deadline.

on 2010-12-18 12:27 pm (UTC)I share that enthusiasm. Admittedly probably not for the same reasons ('hurrah! it's over! no more random inspiration for SCD fic!') but still... :D
Also, 11 months out of 12 is good going for completed fic. Well done you :)

on 2010-12-18 12:53 pm (UTC)A few months had more than one fic posted during them, so that was awesome. Overall, I definitely wrote and posted more fic this year than last. Yearly fic/poetry review coming in January as is traditional around here :D

on 2010-12-18 11:54 pm (UTC)Productivity is a winner. I spent the first seven months or so of this year writing bugger all, so everything I got about the back end of the year feels all good to me.

on 2010-12-18 01:05 pm (UTC)Kara - mainly because Artem gave us that rehearsal with Mr Jordan and the Rumba and she's good
or Pamela - just because she's good and it would be a win against the whole: young and pretty winner - she's similar age to Felicity and Ann - and so much better
Matt's my type but I just can't bring up a lot of enthusiasm for him
I go with one of the girls

on 2010-12-18 01:35 pm (UTC)Love the first line/paragraph meme - I didn't know you'd written Beyoncé/Lady Gaga! *scurries off to read* *or rather, bookmark, because there's an appointment in precisely thirty minutes and I haven't showered yet*

on 2010-12-18 02:04 pm (UTC)Hah, yeah that one was a random inspiration. It's only very short piece and I didn't exactly pimp it anywhere. Hope you enjoy it though.
Showering is good... I tend to find that appointments go much better when you smell nice :D

on 2010-12-18 01:38 pm (UTC)Have you packed yet? Or are you still procrastinating?
With Strictly I would like it to be the girls in the final 2. Can't wait to see more Bruno/Craig. Laughs.

on 2010-12-18 02:07 pm (UTC)I've... piled most of the things I need to take on top of my bed. That counts as packing, right? Um.
Wheeeeeeee. I aim to have packing, tidying and dinner done in time for our Strictly date.

on 2010-12-18 02:10 pm (UTC)You should totally check the rest of the series. Justin for one gets only progressively more awesome. Also Marc and Amanda.

on 2010-12-18 04:18 pm (UTC)And yeah, Ugly Betty is on my to-watch list this year! (Someone requested a possible Kurt/Justin fic for Yuletide, and it made me want to re-try UB.)
But here's a few other UB fics that look good:

on 2010-12-19 09:03 am (UTC)Don't worry about the cats, they will be fine because they have each other - though I know how you feel, I hate leaving my dog and cat when we go away. I'm hoping you have managed/will manage to get off okay - I've been seeing lots of reports on all the snow and delayed flights over there, so keeping fingers crossed you're not stranded at the airport!

on 2010-12-19 10:09 am (UTC)This isn't even all the fics I've posted this year. Indeed, I've been more productive writing wise this year than the one before. I tend to set daily/weekly word counts for myself both with thesis writing and with fic writing. Or time schedules (2h on thesis, 2h on fic - that type of thing).
I'm getting status updates on the cats (last night they were hiding in the laundry cupboard, will have to enquiry if they've come out of there yet).
So far my flight shows as scheduled but you never know. There's snow on the ground here, but it's not snowing any more and the sky is clear so fingers crossed indeed. Right, now I should get going, do the dishes and have a bath before setting off to the airport. Will let the flist know how I get on.
