And so it begins! Welcome all to the first day of 'Carpe Diem: A Week of Creativity and Squee'! As a brief reminder: Each day you will find two prompts/tasks here, based loosely on the poem Monday's Child. One encourages you to create something new, another to squee about something in existence. Aim is to fulfil one or both within 24h of prompt posting but there is no official deadline, no need to sign-up, and you can pick, leave, or interpret the prompts as you please without any penalty or policing. The main aim is to get creating and squeeing and to have fun! Please feel free to a) leave a comment in this post with a link to your fills, and b) pimp the challenge far and wide. Somewhat longer explanation can be found in the Introduction Post, where you can also ask any further questions you have.

And now, on with the first set of prompts/tasks, based on the first line of the poem.

Monday's child is fair of face

Create: Produce something that focuses on appearance (of a person, a thing, a place etc). Focus on describing and depicting the detail, or the overall impression. It doesn't have to be about beauty or attractiveness in any traditional sense, but whatever it is that is compelling, unique, impressive about the person, thing, place etc. Whilst this prompt is very visual, you can also focus on a non visual aspect of how someone/something appears, the first impression, the feeling, the atmosphere, the striking feature.

Squee: Share something beautiful, compelling, unique, impressive that everyone should see/experience. It could be a picspam of that drop dead gorgeous person, it could be your favourite painting, or a place you think everyone should have on their bucket list to visit before they die or something else entirely.

Have fun!

I've done a thing! Two things! Well, two complete things and one half complete thing. I'm just going to briefly post the complete things for now, then go to sleep, and hope my brain gives me a final scene for the wip ficlet over night.

For today's Carpe Diem challenge I have...

Created: A first instalment of a Craig/Bruno drabble sequence (no regrets, Craig and Bruno's Great British Road Trips was basically fandom trope wonderland) - I'll post the complete thing on DW too but for this week all instalments will be on AO3 only (literally no one except [personal profile] pushkin666 cares about this pairing and that's fine with me)

And now the Squee! Wasn't sure what to post here, but since [personal profile] deerna used a painting, I thought I would too. This is Charles Mengin's Sappho (1877). It's currently housed at the Manchester Art Gallery and it is one of my favourite paintings of all time. I go visit her every time I'm in Manchester and I have recently dropped a lot of money for a A1 print of the painting to put on my very own wall. I love how unapologetically pissed off she looks. Tits out and glaring, what a queen.
