Spring Walk on AO3
“The gannets are back.”
Jimmy can barely hear him over the raucous arr arr of the flock diving in and out of the waves. They are on their way to the colony on Noss, and its safe reserve of cliffs.
He and Duncan stand some distance away, marvelling at the spectacle of thousands of white birds creating a wild demarcation line between the sea and the sky above it.
“This was a good idea.” Duncan had dragged him away from the work laptop against his will but now…
The back of his hand brushes Jimmy’s. Around them, the gannets swoop.
