Back in England, been chilling and recovering from the travelling and the 'holiday'. Perfect time to do my yearly Fic Round-Up, though the offerings are a bit paltry this year...

Meme questions:

Leitmotifs of the year:
New fandoms, only writing short things which reflects lack of time and energy, doing more art, fic with female characters and het elements (only a couple, but it’s something), experimental/silly stuff, d/s remains a constant theme.

My best story this year:
things which enclose me I think. There’s nothing unique about it because those themes have been addressed in POI fics a lot but I needed to get my John feels out, and there are a several paragraphs/sentences I’m very pleased with. Honorary mentions to Gravitational for pulling off bdsm!AU and Reformation for getting close to the style and tone of the book.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Well LoM and SGA drabbles didn’t get many hits or kudos, but then I never expected them to. I’d say maybe Gravitational because it’s a popular fandom and relatively popular threesome, so within that context the fic did only so-so.

Most fun story to write:
Reformation because the canon style meant that long, meandering asides were practically required. Love Unchained because writing such deliberate purple prose was lots of fun. Although not nearly as funny as reading the results of our purple prose writing exercise at the [livejournal.com profile] broadstairsbacc. Oh, oh and To Oscillation! because things like plot, characterization and hell, prose, were of no concern :D

Fluffiest story:
Hmm, I think stars when you shine (you know how I feel) is the only thing that comes close to fluff this year.

Most angsty story:
things which enclose me definitely. Secrets was kind of angsty too. Candle, Leaf, Memory is more melancholy than angsty.

Sexiest story:
Hmm… Service, I think. Although both Swivel and Balance are far more explicit. Well, longer and more detailed in their explicitness at least :D

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Ahahaha, first To Oscillation! because metamodern experimental rps. Balance because het foot fetish stuff.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Balance as I’d never really thought about Darcey a lot but [livejournal.com profile] dreamersdare’s comments before and after the fic made me think, plus it was an opportunity to reflect/draw on my femdom views. leave a day at every door and Candle, Leaf, Memory both gave me some additional character insights.

Hardest story to write:
Huh, I don’t remember anything being particularly difficult. I guess fic writing was the fun stuff this year. All the blood, sweat and tears went to poetry I think.

Biggest Disappointment:
Liquid Courage is not that great. It was written quickly and though I edited and added things before posting, it’s still a bit… generic and meh. Definitely not my best work. Apart for that, I could say I’m disappointed about not writing more but instead I’ll just be happy for what I managed

Biggest Surprise:
How popular some fics were, mainly things which enclose me and Reformation. Also Balance which I never expected to get more than ten hits lol!

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
All the POI fics, Balance.

Story I haven't yet written, but intend hope to:
Ahahaha. Sigh. I have a lot of wips and a lot of plot bunnies, but time and energy are very variable. At the top of the list are finishing a POI d/s fic and the Grimm restless song trilogy. I also want to write with a little Renard/Sebastien (Grimm s3) fic with angst, unrequited feels, d/s and loyalty. Oh, and I have an idea for Ezekiel centred The Librarians ficlet relating to 2.08 ‘And the Point of Salvation’. There are a number of other wips/ideas I could talk about but I won’t because that will just make me depressed.

You have been an extremely busy bee! *clicks into bookmarks* :D My absolute fave out of the lot was your Chris/Ray drabble :D

They are all short fics though, seems like I didn't manage a lot of sustained, long writing this year... I'm blaming work! And hee, thank you! Chris/Ray was always a minor pairing, even in the fandom heyday. I remember getting some notoriety with an explicit bdsm fic for them... :D Ah, good times!

LoM was one of my first proper passions, after BtVS so it's always nice to see a little on my flist :D I have some ridiculous amounts of LoM Sam/Gene fic on the masters, lol!

You're making me feel I should do this. Maybe when I feel better. I shall also reread your post and make a more coherent comment.

I do it every year, if for no other reason to reassure myself that I have achieved something no matter how little. I'm sorry you're still feeling poorly! Maybe this will cheer you up: Redsnake has sent awesome t-shirts, and I currently have yours as well as she didn't have your address at hand when posting. Would you like me to forward it to you immediately via post, or are you willint to wait until Feb/March as I will be visiting Manchester at some point during those months (not sure when yet!) for Tria's b'day and could hand it over in person then...

Will wait! As I pointed out to redsnake there was no hurry as winter is not usually T shirt weather here and I shall look forward to having it for Portugal.

Do you want to stay here when you come? I could help celebrate Tria's birthday - I assume I will be human again by then.

It's a long time since I felt so ill.
