Okay, tech-savvy flisters, some advice pls. I'm in market for an external CD/DVD drive because the DVD laser on my laptop has given up the ghost (the only explanation I can come up for the fact that while it burns CDs no problem, it refuses to do the same to DVDs).

After some looking around and price comparison I'm inclined to go with this one. Good choice, bad choice, am I being fleeced? Did you see a better one for much cheaper somewhere? Tell me!

In other news, I've been told that it's unacceptable to hide in my bed on my birthday. I'm feeling slightly sorry for myself as all my really close friends that I'd actually want to celebrate with are either on other side of the country or in an altogether different country. *emotes* Still, have half-heartedly texted some casual friends with "will be in this bar on Friday at such and such o'clock. come commiserate. bring cake."

Well, it looks good, but if you have a port in your comp, I would recommend getting a firewire burner as it is much faster. I don't have a dvd/cd drive at all on my laptop, and trasporting the driver is bitch, so make sure it's pretty durable and hard wearing especially if you have to carry it around. It also seems heavy, but then again I don't know if you are going to carry it anywhere.

Ohh, and happy birthday!! Even though it's early. We have the same b-day month *squees* I can relate to the friend situation. Most of my friends are in other countries, and those who are here won't answer their phones. Sniff. Bar idea sounds cool, and so does cake! X)

ugh, i hate you little now cos you made go and learn what firewire is and what sort of port it would need and and and... :p And it turns out, I don't have one so the point was moot anyway. Ah well, all i really want to do is to burn my SPN eps on a dvd and free up some much needed hard drive space. I won't be lugging it around so the weight won't be an issue.

sorry, just had to check. X) Yes, disc space is always a problem. I have an external hard drive for all that stuff, but it still seems to glog up my disk!

It's the 22nd, smack in the middle of Easter this year which is boring as nobody will be around.
