Kat Recs All The Fics, Round 4 - Day 1

It's that time again! A week of fic recs, ten per day! Usual caveats apply: stuff I liked in a variety of fandoms, links are a mix of LJ, AO3, DW - most authors post in various places so I'm sure you'll find a post suited for your feedback needs, and yes, please do that. I've mostly failed but hopefully the rec rectifies some of that.

Let's start with Bandom.

Bandom

Black And Blue And Red All Over - Frank/Mikey. This pairing has fast become one of my stealth favourites, particularly in context of roommates fic. Add to that Mikey who has a kink for getting beaten up and I'm there with a knuckle iron on.

donnez moi - Patrick/Pete, Brendon/Ryan/Spencer, AU. Warning: permanently WIP. I'll just copy-paste my comment to the author here. Fact: I don't read WIPs. Also fact: good bdsm fics are my Achilles Heel. Another fact: 'undercover in a gay bar' is one of my favourite clichés. Final fact: 'undercover in a gay bdsm bar' with this particular pairing makes me practically wave my flogger in the air from sheer joy. End result: first fact nullified. Ugh competent top!Patrick gives me happy shivers all over.

excerpts from Patrick Stump: The Owner's Manual - Frank/Patrick, Frank/Pete. I love list format 'not quite fics' but even more I love the undercurrent of complicated Patrick/Pete that seems to run here.

Figure You Out - Bob/Gerard. Bob gets telepathy! The inevitable ensues. Entertaining as hell.

Imitating Yesterday - Frank/Mikey, AU. An interesting AU set in the afterlife, which, as it turns out, is no hindrance for new starts. Ugh the part with Gerard and Mikey made me cry, oh WayBros.

Raise Around your Bones - Brendon/Ryan, AU. In which the music is much more hardcore but the boys are still as desperate as ever. This is a gorgeous and raw 'ode to live music' as the author aptly describes it. The writing is visceral enough that you can practically taste the sweat.

sing it for the n00bs - Frank/Gerad, AU. A gamer!AU where the Danger Days universe is an MMORPG. Includes a really rather clever plot twist that kept me genuinely intrigued til the end.

The Name of this Thing is not Love - Brendon/Spencer. Spencer decides it's time to... expand his horizons a little. And who safer to experiment with than Brendon, right? Right? Ughhhh so much awesomeness in this fic. Fumbling! Awkwardness! Feelings! And oh god, some very hot sex. This gives me the happies in my pants and my heart.

Theory and Practice - Mikey/Ray/Frank/Brian/Bob. The author describes this as 'the schmoopiest gangbang' and she's not wrong. The interactions are perfectly in character, the sex is both hot and comfortable, and this fic is a treat to read.

When The Bad Moon in Your Heart Sings - Jon/Spencer, serial killer!AU. Seriously mind the warnings on this one, folks. However, if your tastes go toward dark and twisted then this fic will reward you with some breathtaking writing and gorgeous imagery. Realistic and lyrical.
