Whee LJ is working again and I can post. Thusly, various things collected via flist and wider internets, that have made me happy this week.

- First, I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation to my subconscious that last night gave me a very vivid dream about making out with Adam Lambert. Despite my fandom consumption I very rarely get fandom related dreams so thank you for that subconscious, keep it up.

- This very interesting blog post about sadism.

- If Harry Potter was an anime

- Tom Felton shares his feelings about Voldemort

- New Doctor who trailer

My thoughts can be accurately summarised as ohmygodohmygodohmygodgimme

- PATD's The Overture. Yes, I only recently watched it. Bandom people on my flist, You are all FIRED for not telling me about it sooner.

- In other PATD news, Jon recently posted some new-old pics from his Panic days.

This one made me ache with how much I want Ryan/Spencer fic, oh god.

Also this one, totally Manchester Piccadilly station.

- Patrick Stump, get in my pants.

Guh

More here and here

- These gifs about the Way Brothers.

Logically, I know Mikey's hand was on the sofa. That doesn't stop me picturing it on Gerard's thigh/ass.

Photobucket

Gerard, I don't know what you're doing, but keep doing it.

- [livejournal.com profile] me_maneuver's harp covers of MCR's Disenchanted, PATD's Mona Lisa, and Mumford and Sons' Weep, Little Lion Man. I've basically played them all several times over the last few days and they don't get any less beautiful.

- Hawaii Five-0 Brokeback Mountain.

Apparently this is from the second episode of the new season. I believe it's safe to say that the level of gaymo feelings will remain the same. Awesome,

- A Swedish folk song

- Benedict Cumberbatch reads Jabberwocky

Ugh god, talk to me always Benedict. His voice.

- Finally, something G-rated. Baaaaaaaby chimpanzees.

Photobucket

- Right. Now I'm going to make some experimental bread. Stay awesome, my pretties.

THIS PICTURE. If that's in London, I'm pretty sure I took a walk around there...

I've no idea if that's London, but I take your word for it and say 'Yes, that is TOTALLY where you took a walk'

I was really late on watching The Overture. I kinda presumed everyone else had already seen it (and, yes, in fact did mentally fire the lot of you :p)

Also, that Ryan/Spencer fic? I wants it too! With Ryan all serious-faced and focused about his "creative urges" and "embracing the inspiration" and Spencer all scowly and "Food Network time is sacrosanct now shut the fuck up" :D

For some reason it totally passed me by. I can't remember anyone on my flist posting it (which doesn't mean they didn't, obvs) and I don't really frequent any comms so only came across it last week. Sigh.

That photo looks like it's taken mere 30 seconds before Spencer pries the guitar from Ryan's hands and pulls him onto the bed (which looks soft) and it's all warm and quiet and when Spencer's hand settles on Ryan's back, under his shirt, and Ryan turns his head into Spencer's neck and just breathes, neither of them say anything.

I miss so much bandom related stuff; I'm basically failsome in that way. On the other hand, good things come to those who wait, right?

*laughs* You go for the schmoop, I go for the snark. I feel it sums things up quite well

I am totes envious of your Adam Lambert dream. He never shows up in mine. *pouts*

That gif of Gerard on the floor gets me every time. Every. Damn. Time.

Thank you for your kind words on my covers! I'm so glad you like them! :D

That Swedish folk song was pretty damn spectacular.

Unfortunately my subconscious was still clit-blocking me because the making out happened in my mother's house while she was in another room, which is why we couldn't have sex. Still.

Gerard should be writing on the floor more, I feel this is something that could only improve our relationship.

And you are welcome, your harp covers have brought me much joy. I swear they make writing about symbolic power of academic education (thesisblahblah) easier.

ABBA makes everything better. Period.

I was recently having a conversation somewhere or other about how much more weighted it is to declare oneself a sadist than it is to declare oneself a masochist. Even in kink-friendly circles. People can just casually declare "oh, I enjoyed that, but I'm sort of a masochist" but my random observation that the new guy at work is cute and I'd be interested in making him cry raises eyebrows. It's sort of an interesting dichotomy.

Harp covers :D! My wife is AWESOME like that :D! The "Little Lion Man" cover was recorded in our living room.

Benedict Cumberbatch: I have long referred to him as "Frumious Bandersnatch" for reasons that do not need explored at this juncture!

*chinhands* Like, I want to have all the conversations about sadism right now and it's something I've been thinking (processing, working through) over the last couple of years. You are right in that sadism comes with far more negative connotations than masochism. There is a dichotomy, but it's an understandable one. In plainest mundie thinking: enjoying pain means you may be a danger to yourself (which is sad) but enjoying giving pain means you could be a danger to others (which is scary). In my line of work the word 'sadist' crops up in reference to serial murderers and serial rapists. It's not the same, of course it's not, but it's still in the same spectrum and while you know (I know) that the concepts of 'consent' and 'pleasure' and 'mutual' and 'safety' and 'respect' and all those things sit in the middle of it like guardians keeping you on the right side, it's still a big thing to come to terms with.

Eh, *flaps hands*. Look, have a couple of fic recs instead that deal with sadism (both which will be in the fic rec sets later this week, but you get them now because you went and started talking about sadism with me ♥)

The Blood and Love Theory (http://archiveofourown.org/works/208394) - This is H50 one, but read it even if you don't care for the fandom because it deals with a lot of the stuff I mentioned.

I want to choke (u) series (http://archiveofourown.org/series/3611) - This is Brendon/Spencer and is fucking excellent at giving the (sadistic) dom's pov and coming to grips with it.

Okay, other things. Yes your wife is most talented and I have finally gotten off my ass to friend her. Now I have a matching set! :D

Benedict Cumberbatch (I keep calling him Cumbersnatch which sounds like Victorian porn) should be explored at every juncture. Yes, I went there.

I am still puzzling over the 5.0 picture because there is sort of an extra hand and part of an extra horse... or maybe I'm seeing things? Enjoying the eps you gave me, and the fics you recced! No relevant icons as yet.

Looking at it, I think there's a third rider just behind Steve. Glad you're enjoying the episodes, I'll try to remember to bring the rest of them on Friday :D
