What song are you currently addicted to?
Hmm, I tend to go through phases of intense music consumption (and occasionally obsessing over certain songs) followed by periods where I barely listen to any music at all. I’m coming out of the latter and moving towards the former again. Three songs I’ve been listening more and more lately:
Beat It by Fall Out Boy (Michael Jackson cover) – because I’m essentially writing Patrick/Pete PWP where they get it on immediately after the video shoot and find Patrick’s voice very conducive of writing filthy porn.
Gold Guns Girls by Metric – hot song, related to a f/f rockstar fic I’m dabbling with.
My Home Is Your Head by Joseph Arthur – from this excellent Sherlock/John fanmix byanglepoiselamp. I really like the haunting quality of the song that fits the darker side of that pairing very well. The song gives me a terrible horrible no-good urge to write dark fic where Sherlock and John sink deeper and deeper into their own little world of violence and mind games.
What's your favourite season?
Autumn. I love the smell and the turning colours, leaves on the ground and the sound of rain against the window. There’s that ‘start of school’ excitement, chance to begin anew.
What’s the latest movie you watched?
Inception, which I went to see withtrialia yesterday. And... unpopular fandom opinion ahoy: I... thought it was a really good film, but I experienced no instant fandom love. I have no urge to go read or write fic for it. *shrugs* Although I say that Joseph Gordon-Lewitt grew up fine. I remember watching him in 3rd Rock from the Sun, which btw was an absolutely hilarious comedy show.
What is the one skill you wish you had?
One thing I can’t do and occasionally really wish I could is to sing. I cannot carry a tune to save my life. I mean I have enough ear to recognise where I’m going wrong but I really can’t do anything about it. Ah well, I’ll stick to writing emo lyrics in the hopes that maybe someone else sings them :D
What’s your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
I am so multifandom it’s not even funny. Bandom is probably the one fandom I’m writing most for at the moment, mainly becausepushkin666 and I have two long-term ‘verses/writing projects going on for it. But I also have e.g. a Doctor Who/Stargate Atlantis crossover on the go. Oh, and a couple Lewis fics that pushkin666 and I have also plotted and... Um, you were saying? Reading wise I’m even more omnivorous and over the last few weeks have read in NCIS, Star Trek: Reboot, Supernatural, Good Omens, Professionals, Bandom... You get the drift? :D
What's your favourite musical instrument?
Saxophone, violin, guitar.
What web sites do you always visit when you go online?
University email, LJ, hotmail, BBC news (at least a couple of days a week in a deliberate attempt to stay in the loop).
What was the last thing you bought?
Cat litter, cat food and a carton of tomato basil soup. Very exciting.
If you won 10,000bucks pounds today, what would you do with it?
I would sigh a huge sigh of relief as it would bring more financial security for this year. I’d put it in the bank and use it to pay rent/tuition fees/bills/food/travel... I might indulge and spend a long weekend somewhere I’ve never properly explored like Scotland or Wales.
Favourite time of day?
Depends on the day. If I don’t have pressing tasks or don’t have to go anywhere then first thing in the morning when I can have a leisurely breakfast and surf the internet. If I have a busy day, then it’s the 2-3 hours of alone time I can have after I get home, put my feet up, put telly and internet on, have dinner... I’m very fond of my creature comforts.
What's the last thing that made you happy?
Big happiness? Having mum here for a week. I’ve missed her and it was so nice to have my mum and be a spoiled child for a while. Small happiness? Cats bring happiness all the time. This morning I woke up to both of them purring and meowing at me from next to my pillow, being all loving because they wanted feeding. It was irritating because I kind of wanted to sleep, but it’s also really nice to be centre of someone’s world like that, even if it is just cats.
Do you want to learn another language?
Oh look at that, I already did. Questions like this make me suspect that this meme is horrifically Anglo-American centric... But yes, English is my second language. Finnish is the first. In addition to that I learned Swedish, German and a tiny bit of Russian in school – most of which I’ve now unfortunately forgotten due to not using them regularly, although reading comprehension in Swedish and German is still... at least basic.
Five things you can’t live without.
Things as opposed to living beings? Because family and friends is the obvious answer but things... I mean all of these I could live without (and occasionally have) but would prefer not to have to. Okay: laptop & internet connection, central heating, indoor plumbing, double bed, fandom (does it classify as a thing?).
