I wrote a big lucid answer and lj ate it! poo.

I said (in gist!) that as I haven't been watching, and can't guarantee to catch the back episodes I have no qualms over retro spoilers - and would probably find them helpful for the new series of Dr.Who

I then got very excited as an idea popped up! I thought at first that maybe Jack would leave the doctor because he would realise that He would never be able to give him his whole heart (Iknow, Iknow he has two.) But then..

I think, what if they reunite, and it's as beautiful and powerful and intense as we all wish it - and it's going to be wonderful, and they need never be alone again - then they realise that the shadow death monster thing from last night took all of Jack's eternity thingie away - (there could be a near death experience, some h/c maybe and some lovely comfort snuggling!) - and as they realise Jack's mortality, they see the eternity snatched away. Jack walks away now to spare the doctor the pain of loving him and seeing him die and age. oh, the farewell could knock Rose's goodbye into a cocked hat!

(oh and then, Ianto would look after Jack, who'd be bitter and sad and very isolated for a while, and could woo him. And they'd do the do, but Jack would say that he can't be his, 'cos he'll always love the doctor - and Ianto will say that he doesn't mind and he can love enough for two. Oh and Jack would hold him and kiss him and say "maybe that's enough" (and this can be right at the end of the next series or something) and they'd have one night together, but then Jack would wipe Ianto's memories and release him from Torchwood.

Sorry, but carried away - good job I don't actually watch the show isn't it!
