I think you might unfortunately be right. Jack/Ianto interplay was one of the core things about the series and without Ianto Jack will become unpleasant in many ways I predict...
Ah! Yes, I'd go for the 'everything's alright, we have managed to reverse polarity and fix it' solutions right now, but I doubt it will happen.
I agree that Jack without Ianto is going to bring out the worst in him. I wonder if RTD really appreciates just how much of a fanbase that pairing has. I've tried to psych myself up to watching Day 4 tonight but I don't think I've succeeded! I'm such a coward and I don't want to cry ....
