I promised
frikatilhi some birthday drabbles. Her prompts can be found under the cuts, but I sort of went into some strange directions with them. Hope you enjoy anyway, darling!
Supernatural | Gen | PG
Song #56
(prompts: Stanford era, birthday)
Sam comes down from the stage, wobbly-kneed and sweating. That was possibly the worst thing he has ever done, including all the times he’s spent covered in demon intestines.
At the table Jess hides her face in mortification. “You are so drunk,” she says.
“Sure am.” Unfortunately he isn’t.
“Seriously? Bonnie Tyler?”
Giving presents is difficult when you’re not officially talking, but Sam’s good at improvising.

Supernatural | Gen or implied Dean/Sam | PG
Jog
(prompt: working out)
Dean wakes up to a splitting headache and an empty room. He swallows down bile and panic, already pulling on his boots when Sam walks in.
Dean’s not fast enough with his expression and knows Sam catches the relief.
“Went running,” Sam says, pressing a hand to his side. There’s a smear of something red under it.
“Jesus, you stupid? Those stitches are barely two days old!”
Sam actually looks contrite. “Couldn’t sleep,” he offers, stripping his shirt off.
“Next time, just wake me.” Dean wipes blood off warm skin and pretends his hands aren’t shaking. “Could use the exercise.”

Supernatural | Gen | PG
Brother
(prompt: wee!chesters having a fight)
“Da-a-ad!” Sam’s voice is high-pitched and whiny.
John glances at the mirror, sees a flurry of hands, the back-seat overtaken by a slap-fight.
“Dean says the witches are going to eat my brains!”
“They could,” John concedes, changing gears. He has a policy of truth about these things. Sam looks genuinely worried and Dean’s smug expression is already sliding into remorse. “But they won’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because your brother won’t let them.”
Dean grins, bright and affectionate, grabbing his little brother into a noogie. “That’s right kiddo.”
Sam squeaks indignantly, pushing to get away, but laughing too hard to manage.

PS.
hugemind, you’ll get yours tomorrow!

What I want to know is, what prompted your first comment, the fuck, no one is getting birthday drabbles ever again?

on 2008-03-01 09:33 am (UTC)I was being *kind* dear. It could have been TENTACLES o_o
muse!Dean would like to point out that it could nearly have been mpreg and he would never have forgiven me either. Muahaha >:)
Next time it's going to be dog collars, if you allow me a next time ^~
Re: kat lair SPN drabble 'Jog'
on 2008-03-01 11:41 am (UTC)...okay, now I'm trying to imagine tentacles and mpreg in the same drabble/fic and it's making my brain hurt o_O
dude, that's easy, collars fall into category labelled "mah kinks, let me show you them"
Re: kat lair SPN drabble 'Jog'
on 2008-03-01 12:03 pm (UTC)Ooh, actually, I can show you tentacles AND mpreg in the same Supernatural fic :D It's all good clean fun, not at all graphic or squicky - well not once you realise what's going on *eg* http://estrella30.livejournal.com/333830.html
Mmmmmmmmmm collars yessssss ^_^

“Dean says the witches are going to eat my brains!”
“They could,” John concedes
John is made of hilarious win.

on 2007-08-28 12:35 pm (UTC)John is clearly the type of parent who explained in great detail every worst case scenario possible.
Thank you!

on 2008-02-23 07:48 am (UTC)Jog - "Next time, just wake me." Dean wipes blood off warm skin and pretends his hands aren’t shaking. "Could use the exercise." *splorfles* Could use the exercise? HOW IS THAT GEN?! Muahhaha :D
Brother - "They could," John concedes, changing gears. He has a policy of truth about these things. Muahahaha ^_^ Gotta love John's forthright attitude, no bullshitting the kids about the dangers out there.
Great drabbles, as always :)

on 2008-02-23 04:48 pm (UTC)Well clearly Dean just wanted to see Sam, it was sort of like his birthday present for himself (though he won't call it that). And in here he hasn't really clocked on Sam seeing him.
HOW IS THAT GEN?! Muahhaha :D - Because I was honestly thinking of Dean just going jogging with Sam, and it wasn't until your mum pointed out the other interpretation of that line that I realised the inherent filthiness. I'M AN INNOCENT LITTLE GIRL, HONEST.
Yeah I think John would have been direct to the fault with the kids about the dangers they faced.

on 2008-02-25 07:59 pm (UTC)LOL - yes. Well I mean see my post on the same night (well maybe don't it's very ranty >.>) I was incredibly ill and needed FIC and didn't want to go anywhere that might disappoint. I stayed up til about 9am with a blasting headache from all the stiffness but your writing helped me through :)
Actually I missed commenting on one of your longer ones because it was very good and I enjoyed it but I was braindead by that point and really not sure how to comment with justice. The backwards-event paedophile killer in cornfield fic where Dean will follow Sam *anywhere*. Powerful stuff, and your first SPN fic as I recall..? But I had to read it twice to grasp it thoroughly *g*
Awww to Dean wanting to see Sam on his birthday, of course ^.^
I am not at all innocent, not sure I ever was *eg* I blame my mother, clearly it's all her influence! (Although how bringing a child up on Narnia and Lord of the Rings can lead to this, I'm really not sure...)
Of course John would have been honest, just like tribal societies are no doubt very matter of fact about the danger of being eaten by lions. It really confuses me that some fans believe John was a bad father for dragging his kids all over the place while hunting monsters, and training them to do the same. They should just stop and THINK for a minute. John is living in a world where *monsters are real*. His own *wife* was killed by a demon who, for all he knows - and hints throughout the show say he knows (knew) more than he ever let on - is going after his youngest son too. What is he supposed to do, ignore his own military training and ability to go after these killers? Send his sons somewhere he can't protect them, where they won't learn how to protect themselves? I know their childhood was not ideal but that's NOT their father's fault. I think he did the best he could under the circumstances, and considering that they DO survive, they are loyal to one another, they have strong social principles, I'd say he did a better job of raising them than many parents in life. Okay so maybe he couldn't be around on Christmas Eve because he was off hunting things, and it's understandable that this would be upsetting to the boys themselves, but the FANS ought to give him a break. (Sorry that just turned into a mini rant, didn't mean to lol.) As you can tell, I like John :3

on 2008-02-26 08:13 pm (UTC)And thank you for the feedback on "every line is the second last". It was indeed my first SPN fic. the opening/closing image of the boys standing on the field with blod dripping from Sam's hands did not leave me alone.

on 2008-02-29 08:43 am (UTC)Yes, Sam's first human kill... Pretty monumental, and he's steering towards it in canon now (good prediction!)... Poor Sammy, he's so pushed. And his and Dean's roles seem to be gradually exchanging. Of course they do say 'it's always the quiet ones'.
