Um, hi? So, remember how I said I’d be back in July? And look, it’s still very much July, for whole four days more \o?

So yeah, I’m… sort of back in the LJ-land. “Sort of” because I still have loads of stuff to do by the end of August (thesis chapter what?) but honestly, six weeks is my limit and I missed you guys like you wouldn’t believe and I have so much to tell and there’s been writing (mostly original fic but also a little bit of fanfic) that I want to share and and and!!!

You love me still, right? *clings to flist*

Anyway, I’m going to write a whole another tl;dr type post about “what I did on my summer holiday LJ absence" but what I would very, very much like is for you to come and tell me what you’ve been up to for the last six weeks. Also, feel free to update me with any dramatic and/or ridic fandom news that I should be aware of but clearly am not.

omgomgyou! i missed you so badly i didn't know what to do with myself! first i couldn't sleep and then i stopped eating, and my heart withered with longing and finally dropped out of my body, and all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put it back together again, except they did, but they had to use superglue and safety pins and seal the seams with bubble gum, and now it's ugly and deformed and doesn't fit in my chest quite right. but you're back now and that's all that matters! *clings clingingly*

I have, as per usual, started 80 bazillion things (including cracky gen fic) and finished NOT A SINGLE ONE of them. *Places moratorium on new ideas*

Oh, and I bought a new computer! She's the most expensive thing I've ever owned in my life, and I didn't even go into debt for her. Her name is Grace. She's lovely.

(also, Photoshop. Difficult. Battlestar Gallactaca - depressing. SGA - nearly indistinguishable from crack fic. Possibly crackier than crack fic. More details upon request, but I don't want to spoil you if you do intend to catch up)

And hello to Grace! I too am in desperate need for a new laptop because mine is getting temperamental... Alas, let's hope it lasts for a few more months because I can't afford a new one just yet.

I have started catching up with BSG (I'm somewhere in the last half of season 3 at the moment). Oh, and you'll be pleased to know that I'm half way through the season 1 of Heroes that you sent me. :D Observations so far: wow those Petrelli's are touchy feely, Nathan has ISSUES, Hiro/Ando is too cute for words (srsly, where's the fic?), I would bang Mohinder any which way possible, Sylar makes me want to write disturbing Palahniuk-style gen drabbles. I'm sure I will have more opinions as I work my way through the series.

Computer purchasing was eneabled by such things as bad ecomonic poliicy and mandatory overtime (turns out, I resent working a 55 hour week less when it's computer money)

We're finish up season three of BSG as well, though I wish I liked it a bit better. I think it's too good, and knows its too good, and so I care less than I do when everything is sort of stupid but charming. There also seems to be a general lack of slashy porn, despite Apollo's habit of dropping his towel in co-ed locker rooms. Fandom perplexes me sometimes.

I'm glad you are liking Heroes :D Oh, Petrellis, how you have issues (wait for Nathan in season two- it would be funny if it weren't so damn tragic). The two of them honestly make NO sense at all if they aren't sleeping together!

Mohinder is fun - he's just so pretty and gullible and prone to doing REALLY stupid things, but looking so good when he does them that you sort of forgive him for it anyway. (again, season 2 and all the things they are not quite going to tell us is suddenly canon)

There's Hiro/Ando fic out there - I haven't read much of it, as I am an angst queen and they are just too cute and happy together for my purposes. But it is "how they roll" and all ;)

(And then there's Peter - there's something about that boy that short circuits the "think appropriot thoughts" part of my brain. Seriously - things should be done to him that are illegal in those countries people go to for the kinky stuff that is illegal everywhere else)

(and yes, I know that the show is frequently a big, shiny, overcrowded, trainwreck that totally forgets things like, I don't know, plot and continuity and motivation. But I love it anyway)

OMG HAI.

Things that have happened to me:
1) Finished off A-Levels with a very enjoyable 3-hour Advanced Chemistry paper. Am now awaiting results (though when they are released on August 14th, I will in fact be in La Gomera. DAMN.)

2) Had 17th birthday and am learning to drive! Spent first lessons continually stalling because I couldn't handle the clutch and handbrake AT THE SAME TIME. Spent second lesson being forced to brake then pull away EVERY TEN SECONDS to train me not to stall. Have first lesson with instructor on Thursday

3)I had my first nosebleed, shortly followed by three more. THIS WAS EXCITING FOR ME.

4) Went to a Doctor Who/Torchwood convention in Birmingham! Which was brilliant fun, Tom Price (PC Andy)is really, really lovely and Georgia Moffett was so nervous that she was asking everyone how to spell their names (then promptly spelled her own wrong).

5) Failed to get a summer job.

I think that's about it, really... I certainly can't think of anything else.
