also, can you imagine the top pr and media running around wildly atm going "omg, where are we going to get the money to host the next year's competition?" I think it's time for another public appeal...
That was something I was a bit worried about, actually. Because I really can't see us being able to host it "properly". I guess this means that YLE will be raising the payments again...
Missed it all - Finland, England, Wherever - back from London tomorrow night - we've been TV-less as well as almost internetless. Congratulations! *wonders why anyone would want to win the Eurovsion...*
thanks! Don't knock the entertainment value of Eurovision: the cheesy songs and outrageous costumes, Terry Wogan getting increasing drunk and cynical as the night goes by, dancers coming out a piano, German country songs, all the Eastern European singers looking like cheap rent boys... It's the best crack!
Haven't had time to breathe, let alone watch anything. 8 days in London, supporting family through father-in-law's funeral, and dismantling of his flat, plus a lot of driving, almost zero internet access and that only on brother-in-law's laptop. . .Got back at three o'clock this morning, had solicitor's appointments this afternoon, and can't move in the house for all the furniture we've brought back but still have to make meals etc. . .Might have time to watch Lost and Dr. Who, which I taped (I hope) while we were away, later tonight. Managed Part 1 of 'The Line of Beauty on the website. Have to say your LoM story plus others from the comm kept me sane during the 'ordeal' - I had my laptop but no internet, and fortunately I'd downloaded them!
awww, poor you. Sounds like you've disgustingly effective though. I can't seem to get anything done. I force myself to write 500 words of academic text and 500 words of fiction each day - it doesn't sound like much but feels like such a struggle, been so depressed about various things (whine, whine).
Enjoy Dr. Who (was very good, and now I totally ship Mickey and Jake - you'll see) and Lost (which I think is dragging on a lot, I watch mainly in expectation of Jack and Sawyer getting into another fight and rolling around the beach, fists flailing and sand clinging to their sweaty bodies... what? oh, okay, maybe it doesn happen in my head a lot more than in the actual show - more's the pity).
