Found via the ever-entertaining flist.

SCALE OF THE UNIVERSE - This makes my thesis angst seem insignificant. I'm considering just emailing the link to my supervisors with '...what was the point again?' on the subject line.

...unfortunately, big as the universe is, I still need clean underwear. After working on thesis for an hour (read: I... reorganised some paragraphs. Wohoo?) I will now have to go do laundry. Bah.

The second volume of Journal of Transformative Works and Cultures is out. It's a special issue on Games and Gaming. I know there are a couple of gamers on my f-list as well as a whole lot of people with a general interest in an academic research on fandom, hence the pimping. You need to register to read, but it's free.

Hello Darlings,

I'm pimping this for [personal profile] moth2fic (who is one of the editors) because she is awesome and so is the Zine. And knowing how many talented writers there are on my Flist I'm sure many of you find this of interest.

This new online Zine aims to showcase original short fiction and poetry which is GLBT friendly or has a GLBT theme and encourages everyone, whatever her/his sexuality, to submit work for inclusion. New and established writers are welcome and experimental writing is encouraged.

The submission categories include:
Ficlets (under 1000 words)
Very short ficlets (under 100 words)
Microfics (20 words or less)
Short poems (under 500 words)
Related artwork

Please see the website for further details, submission guidelines, and many wonderful stories already published.

Recently [profile] harem_ent asked me for some SGA, SPN and Torchwood recs. I cheated a bit and mostly directed her to some excellent rec pages I use myself (not restricted to the above fandoms). After compiling the quick and dirty guide for finding quality reading, I thought some of you might find it useful as well. It's not pretty, but it does what it says in the tin...

Apologies for spamming those on my Flist who have already seen this on various communities but I'm just so damn excited! *dances around the room*

Double Treat becomes Crossroads, the Stargate Atlantis Slash Index!

Some of you were perhaps familiar with Double Treat, the site maintained by [personal profile] flordeneu that housed the McKay/Sheppard thematic index and McKay/Sheppard threesomes master list . The site has now changed to become bigger and better! A while ago I approached [personal profile] flordeneu with the idea to do a McKay/Beckett list like her McKay/Sheppard. We started talking and things grew and now the Crossorads team ([personal profile] flordeneu, [personal profile] katydidmischief, [profile] hermioneorourke, [personal profile] kat_lair, [personal profile] oeil & [personal profile] starry113) is proud to present you Crossroads, the Stargate Atlantis Slash Index!

The core of this new site are the fic indexes. We have thematic indexes for McKay/Sheppard fics (the one previously featured in Double Treat), McKay/Beckett, McKay/Zelenka and McKay/Dex fics; a rare pairings index for all the other slash pairings (including femslash), a complete threesomes and moresomes index divided into McKay/Sheppard threesomes and other threesomes and an index for slash featuring other characters played by Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett. In total, we currently have indexed 1036 stories in 182 categories.

But we also have fic recommendations categorized by pairing (currently 103 recommendations in six categories) and a challenges page, also categorized by pairing, where you can find an idea for a story or add your own challenge for someone else to pick!

After this initial message, all the page updates will be posted only on our updates community, [profile] sga_crossroads. Please come and friend us to be up to date with all the updates and news from the site!

As before, category and story suggestions are very much appreciated and will be credited with a link in the "With the collaboration of" section of each index.

Thank you and welcome to Crossroads, the Stargate Atlantis Slash Index!
