Boiling Point on AO3
Everything is sticky. The cheap polyester of Sam’s shirt is glued to the sweat-slick skin of his back, lowering himself onto the fake leather of the car seat feels like sitting on a plastic slide. The steering wheel burns against his palms, growing slippery within seconds.
Inside the station, the aircon makes a lot of noise, breathing out heat and dust. Inside his flat, Sam watches dirty wallpaper shrivel and peel, flaking off like rotten flesh. Everything swelters, fumes, simmers.
Something will boil over soon, melt into liquid dreams, vaporise into nothing.
Could be the city. Could be Sam himself.
