This is a meme [personal profile] pensnest created about British household things, which is way more relatable for me that most of these typically are on account of having lived in the England for over twenty years. Although the answers probably aren't terribly British... So let's have a go, #43 is the bonus question from me because I needed to get that off my chest :D

01 White bread, brown bread, wholemeal bread, granary bread, or something else?
Ideally, Finnish rye bread :D Which I have a lot in my freezer rn thanks to mum's visit. But out of those choices granary bread every time. I like bread with bits in them.

02 How long have you had your kettle?
Over five years.

03 How many teapots do you own?
Lol none.

04 Do you own a device for making coffee?
Yes, I have a coffee maker. I don't mind instant and will drink it if offered but I don't have it in the house.

05 Do you have fresh mushrooms in your fridge?

Not at the moment but very often yes, I like mushrooms.

06 How many tins of tomatoes are there in your kitchen stores?
Right now one, but it's a standard shopping item and I tent to get about 4-6 with most big shops.

07 Do you have a box of wine in your home?
No, I have a bottle of it though and it's even open. I don't drink a lot and this is one of the two bottles I bought for myself for Christmas, only opened yesterday.

08 What kind(s) of mustard do you have?
I generally like mustard with 'bits' (yes, mustard seeds, I know) in it too. But at the moment I have my fave Finnish mustard because mum brought that too.

09 Name the One True Jam.
My mum's own jam which is usually a mix of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Cloudberry jam. Lingonberry jam. My grape jelly. Listen, I fail at 'one true anything' questions.

10 What flavour(s) of squash or cordial (or other soft drinks) do you have in the house?
I don't really like squash. Again, I'll drink it but generally would prefer water. I do have J20 in the fridge at the moment, the orange and passionfruit flavour. And one of the glitterberry ones still left.

11 Do you have fizzy drinks in the house, and are they in cans or bottles?
Not at the moment and only occasionally. Sometimes I get distracted by Pepsi Max for a couple of months if I have the excuse of visitors and planned drinking (it makes for a good mixer). Lately I've been into Appletizers.

12 Eggs: scrambled, fried, poached or boiled? Or something else?
Literally any which way? I usually go with scrambled or poached. But also 'egg butter' is excellent on ryebread..

13 Is your hob gas or electric?

Electric induction hob.

14 Are there dirty plates, cutlery etc in your kitchen sink?
Not a lot, I put most things in the dishwasher yesterday.

15 Fairy, Finish or supermarket's own?

Ecover, both for dishwashing liquid and dishwasher tablets. And, actually, all my cleaning products.

16 Is there anything mouldy in your fridge?
The earlier version of the grape jelly with chilli has a habit of developing some mould on top (no, idk why, probably the chilli flakes) but other than that no, food waste is not a thing that happens to me.

17 Which supermarket(s) do you shop at?

Tesco for big shops because I use their home delivery. I have two small Sainsburys within 3min walking distance, that I tend to pop into things in between the big shops, and Marks and Spencer and Aldi a bit further away which I use if I'm that way.

18 Do you buy food from not-supermarkets?

I get a local veg and fruit boxes delivered.

19 How old is your home?

I literally had to go looking for this (rented so you know). The house is part of the row of grade II listed buildings. I can't find anything specific about this street but the houses on one street over that are pretty identical date to 1880s so I'm guessing ~140 is about right.

20 What would you change about your living room, if you could?
Make it a bit bigger and not have the front door open right into it. Otherwise, I have now achieved maximum nesting with my shelves and fairy lights.

21 What colour is your sofa?
Navy blue, but it has dark purple and this pink lilac colour covers.

22 Do you own a pouffe?
Nope, I just put my feet on the sofa or the table. I live on my own I can do what I want, thanks.

23 Do you organise your wardrobe, and if so, how?
Yes, by type so dresses go together, t-shirts go together etc.

24 Do you own any nifty devices for efficient storage, and if so, are they indeed efficient?
I bought two tabletop shelves for the kitchen, one of which has made my coffee/tea nook functional and the other one has spices, oils and condiments on it behind the hob.

25 If you have a loft, is it fully insulated?

No loft.

26 Curtains or blinds?
The front room came with a blind because it is literally to the street, like I could put a hand out of the window and touch people walking past if the window opened. But there are also curtains for the colour and cosyness. I have curtains in the bedroom largely because the neighbour has a garden/security light on all fucking night, and on top of the office window just for some colour.

27 How often do you vacuum?
Eh... Every few weeks? Brush and pan are used to tackle the inevitable cat litter in the bathrooms.

28 Do you have a welcome mat at the front door?
There's a mat, it doesn't say welcome on it.

29 What is the oldest object you own?
I think it's my tea towels, hand-weaved cotton, from my great aunt. Also some inherited jewellery.

30 Do you own any Art, or just pictures?

All my pictures are art, how dare anyone imply otherwise, from the art prints (Van Gogh's Cafe Terrace at Night, Mengin's Sappho, Lempicka's La Dormeuse ) to the ones painted by H and my mum's friend down to the Stay Kids posters and framed fandom stickers. ART.

31 Do you have a home office?
Yes. It is also my dressing room and craft room and exercise room and storage room.

32 Do you have any fannish objects on display in your home?

Lol yes, what's the point of being an adult if I can't indulge in my witch hovel aesthetic and fandoms? I have some fandom strickers (various) framed, concert tickets also in a frame, Stray Kids albums on display on my new shelf, Good Omens post cards on the mantel and post cards of various other fandoms here and there, mini RM funko pop, signed photos of Terry Farrell, Roxann Dawson, Chad Lindberg and Gabriel Tigerman, and all of the Fall Out Boy, posters...

33 How many books do you own (an approximation will do)?
Two bookshelves almost full. I culled a fair bit when moving.

34 How many radiators are there in your home?
Six.

35 What kind of temperature do you like to keep your home at?
18C for comfort but it goes lower for the night and during the day when I'm not in. I'll put it up to 20C if I start getting miserable.

36 Do you have any functional fireplaces in your home?

Nope, the one here is all boarded up.

37 How many (living) plants are there inside your home?

Three, though tbf the mint is barely hanging on.

38 Do you garden?
Not if I can help it. The garden at the new house is... Well. There's a lot of mud? And trees shading the whole thing. So, we'll see. I have things growing in pots usually but that mostly happens because H does some gardening for me when I fold her laundry in return, so.

39 If you have a garage, can you fit your vehicle(s) into it?
I have neither garage nor vehicles.

40 Do you have a charging point for an electric vehicle?

Lol no this is a mid-terrace on a busy road with no parking at all.

41 Have you ever gone to an amateur theatre show?
Yes. I have also played in an amateur theatre show and those were the best parts of my undergrad days.

42 Have you ever been to watch a football match?

No. And neither have I been to watch an ice hockey game. I know, I know, they may rescind my passport.

BONUS 43 The British household thing I, a Finn, like to rant about the most?

The duvet covers. The... the lack of holes at the other end of the duvet cover. It's just a sack. You have to wrestle your whole upper body into it to position the corners and it's incredibly frustrating to do on your own and then they put fucking buttons at the other end like... Do they think the duvet is going to try to slither out in the night and escape? I, to this day, remember the first time I encountered British duvet covers and I was legit convinced that they were faulty because they didn't have the top slits. I own exactly zero (0) UK bought duvet covers for this reason, thanks. Also, related to this, the double duvets. *shudders* If you're a Finn, you'll know.
