I received a lovely response from Kodin Kuvalehti (see my original feedback here) which actually made me kind of teary, just knowing that they had tried, genuinely tried. If you're in Finland, buy the magazine! Them's good folk as well as producing a good magazine.

Ja kiitos palautteesta! Kiinnitit huomiota tärkeään asiaan, jota me täällä toimituksessakin mietimme. Yritimme kovasti löytää 13:n rakkaustarinoihin homo- tai lesboparia, mutta valitettavasti kaikki tavoittamamme parit kieltäytyivät. Pyysimme laskujeni mukaan ainakin kahdeksaa paria. Numerossa 14/15 eli kesätuplassa on onneksi seitsemän viisasta naista, joista yksi on lesbo ja puhuu kauniisti parisuhteestaan. Jos annat osoitteesi, postitan lehden sinulle heti eikä sinun tarvitse odottaa äitisi vierailua.

Hello Kat,
And thank you for feedback. You noticed an important issue that we at the magazine also thought about. We tried hard to find a gay or lesbian couple to include among the love stories but unfortunately all the couples we asked refused. We must have asked at least eight such couples. However, in issue 14/15 we luckily have seven wise women, one of whom is a lesbian and speaks beautifully about her relationship. If you send your address I will post the magazine to you so you don't have to wait for your mum's visit.

I have emailed back, thanking them not just for getting back to me and the magazine but for trying to make a difference. It doesn't surprise me that same sex couples in Finland are still wary of publicity but I am happy that my fondness for this magazine is not unfounded and maybe over time they will be part of changing things.
