I didn't even bother watching it. I was genuinely hoping he'd get killed on the way into the studio. (I don't often wish people dead, but for him? I make an exception. It's worth losing a little bit of my humanity).
I was on two minds whether or not to watch because as expected it did make my bod pressure rise alarmingly. But it was educational. I've never seen someone so incredibly slick, the way he was spinning the questions and evading and outright lying ("I never said that" - "But it's on VIDEO" - "But i didn't mean it like that")... It was mind-boggling.
One thing Nick Griffin is good at is spinning propaganda. (It's something he has in common with David Cameron arf arf arf). I think this shows in almost everything he does and says. It's all about image, reputation, rhetoric. Having said that, I'm not surprised he floundered in open debate, nor am I especially sympathetic.
We discussed it a little in uni today and one of the girls said she felt sorry for him, because he was being bullied, and it would've been fairer if they'd gotten a group of BNP members together. (To which I replied "don't make me laugh, most BNP members don't have two brain cells to rub together between them").
I'm sorry! Does this work? At any rate, he wrote: 'I am not sure I enjoyed this week's edition of Britain's Got Racists'.
"don't make me laugh, most BNP members don't have two brain cells to rub together between them" - the frightening things is though that they have. Many of these people (insert your flavour of discrimination and phobia here) are actually very smart and well educated. Which is why I think it's sometimes dangerous to just dismiss then as dumb thugs and why simply laughing at them is not always the best policy. *steps off the podium*
