Mismatched Magic on AO3
For a witch with a cat familiar, Ryan does a lot of water magic. Too much, if you ask Spencer.
“Some cats love swimming,” Ryan observes. He’s seen some really cute videos.
“I am, and never will be, ‘some cats’.” Spencer looks indignant but it’s mostly bluster to hide his apprehension.
“You could stay human for this. Or just… wait on the shore.”
“It won’t work as well like that.”
In the end, Spencer-as-a-cat follows Ryan into the lake. He swims very well and looks very cute doing it. Not that Ryan is stupid enough to say so out loud.
