A Kiss on AO3
She likes them screaming, but she loves them silent, faces contorted, bodies locked, rictus of pain shining like lacquer on a butterfly. Bellatrix admires the fight, sucks on each sugar sweet surrender like boiled candy, but it’s the edge just between that makes her breath stutter, her heart quicken. There’s no beauty like a soul stripped bare, when the pretence of civilisation falls away, revealing the animal underneath. Animals don’t hope, they only exist. And Bellatrix, she loves to make them feel every eternal second, trap them in the present, the stinging kiss of her magic going on and on.
