Well hello, it's me again. I promised daily posting, I didn't promise exciting daily posting...

Today I have...

• Kept on top of work emails
• Downloaded lots of articles relating to one of my research projects
• Read some of them
• Forgotten to call dad (he was in the hospital again)
• Been to an osteopath
• Took my external hard drive to the computer shop so they can put in what they managed to save. The laptop apparently is okay but a) it is old, b) needs a new battery, and c) DEAD TO ME after this stunt so... I'm going to tell them to scrub it and give me whatever it's worth and buy a new laptop in August.
• Did also look at all the stuff that was on my old laptops (that was backed up on the external hard drive) and there is a lot of music and vids and photos and stuff waiting to be re-discovered. Including folders for the thematic vid recs I did aeons ago. I mean... I don't even know if I have people on my flist anymore who even remember those :D Maybe a couple of people (you know who you are...)
• Finished watching Atomic Blonde. I... liked it, although I was hoping for a different ending. Enough so that it may end up as a ficlet for my 100 Fandoms... Also surprise f/f content and no sexualised violence toward women so that was something. I actually remember watching the news of Berlin Wall coming down, so the setting was great. Oh, you know what else I liked? There was a lot of German, Russian (and a smattering of other) dialogue that wasn't subtitled. Fuck yes! Figure it out! :D

Plan for the rest of the evening:

• Write 500 words of fic (currently working on a Good Omens thing for H who has had a rough week)
• Reply to comments
• Catch up with one flister and leave some comments (currently trying to do this one person at a time because otherwise too confusing)

I’ve got an external hard drive of stuff I need to go back on to rediscover stuff.... but I’ve lost the lead to it so can’t access it.

New lead? I think I'm going to take the external HD with me to Finland so that I have some time to go through stuff in there.

I liked Atomic Blonde a lot. The double-double cross was totally unexpected to me.

I was kind of expecting that, and simultaneously relieved she didn't get killed (faith in female characters surviving is low) but I did not like the final reveal, especially after the 'I work for myself' which I thought was much more in character.

I love it when that happens! (Well, not so much for German because that's my mother tongue but other languages)

I liked Atomic Blonde too, especially because I kept dreading sexualized violence 8I had heard it was brutal in parts, which it was) and it didn't happen.

This reminds me to wipe my old laptops of data before the move, in case they fall...

I don't mind the subtitling at all (grew up in Finland where all foreign language stuff is subtitled), what throws me out of a movie immediately is if they show non-English speakers speaking in English just between themselves, like that is so annoying.

I was excited to understand some of the German even though it's been decades since I studied it.
