Supernatural Drabble: Postlude

The Connotations Slash Con ran a writing workshop, during which people were asked to write a drabble in ten minutes using the randomly selected prompt words. These were: peach, pendulous, and whisker. You can imagine that there were some rather pornographic drabbles that came out of that one. I went the other route (yes, I know, I didn’t write porn. Shock horror.) and thought I’d post it here for you guys.

 

Supernatural – Gen or mild Sam/Dean – PG

Postlude

 

Time moves like a clever cat, always a whisker away from death. They stand in the valley, pale peach dawn creeping across the land.                

“It’s as good a place as any,” Dean says, lowering himself to the ground. He’s lying. It’s just that this is as far as they can go.

Sam kneels besides his brother, hands brushing the blood-soaked t-shirt. It must hurt, but instead of flinching away Dean leans into the touch. There’s nothing to do but wait.

In the horizon, a black cloud is already forming, pendulous and heavy with things against which they have no weapons.

Sigh ... Loved this when I first read it and still loving it. I'm not sure which of the boys I'm feeling sorrier for at this moment.
