So everyone's seen the AMA performance vid, right? I'd link but youtube keeps pulling them down and I can't find one still working (if you can, link pls?).
But here's the official music vid (
lyrics).
Lol, his pimp!cane.
Now my main comment for this whole thing has been "Adam Lambert, bringing bdsm to the masses". He's hardly the first artist to include the dynamic (NIN anyone? Depeche Mode?) or the one that's done it the best, but the issue here seems to be mainly the scope of the potential audience. Going from American Idol to this? In the AMAs? I salute you, Adam Lambert baby!Dom. Also feed you cookies for you are adorable and sparkly. Regardless, it's kind of fun to see Adam being open about his sexuality didn't just stop at coming out as gay, but all these repeated unsubtle hints of his toppiness are, pardon the pun, entertaining. I get the impression that he isn't just putting on a show with it, but is familiar with the dynamic IRL too. And... well, it' refreshing. It's like when you read bdsm-themed fics, and 9 or 10 times you can tell whether or not the author
knows wtf they're talking about. And when they do, it's always so much better.
As for the song... I've seen a quite a few objections from Tops and Dom/mes to the "I'm here for your entertainment" bit and I'm rather inclined to agree. Blatant commentary on the nature of the entertainment industry it may be, but I would disagree that the dom/me is there for the sub's entertainment! Rather the other way around (though obvs. the 'other way around' is mutually pleasurable and therefore, um, mutual). I'm enjoying the song hugely, and rocking out to it in my pyjamas and woolly socks like nobody's business, but every time the chorus hits that part, I'm forced to change it to "you're here for
my entertainment" because otherwise it just feels wrong. Adam Lambert, don't let them top from the bottom! Put your house in order dude! *g*
