I'm new to the Robin Hood fandom (about half-way through the first season) and found you through robinhoodbbc when I was looking for some episode discussion. Really enjoyed your write-ups (and I can't believe I just completely spoiled myself by reading your finale recap but damnit, I'm bored at work and couldn't wait!) Then I discovered you also like Supernatural! And Torchwood! (another new fandom for me). And Firefly/Serenity! While I squee with the best of them, I suck at conveying my squee through the written word so I'm a chronic lurker.

It's always lovely to meet new people, especially if they share so many of my fandoms (and Firefly is a very recent one. I've only seen the first four episodes so don't spoil me!). Robin Hood is first grade crack, I'm squeeful that you enjoyed the episode reviews... Things got a bit crazy there at times as I'm sure you noticed :) And I can't belive you just spoiled yourself for the finale! heh!

Hi, I just read Corona's Primeval cliché drabbles and she mentions in her post that you're - um... responsible(?) for this list of fandom clichés if I didn't misunderstand.
Now, I'm a fan of clichés myself (because, hell, sometimes they're all we've got =p), and so I was wondering if you got those ideas from your own awesome brain or some sort of list or meme or something. Because I'd be very much interested in taking up some of those clichés myself. If it's your list, I wondered if I could borrow it for dirty ficcing purposes. And if it's not, I'll still beg for a link because despite way too many years in fandom life, I haven't yet encountered a cliché list like this one.

Well hello. Heh, yes I may be slightly responsible for Corona's Primeval cliché drabbles, but only in a sense that I gave her maybe three prompts and then she came up with the rest from her own sweet porn-filled head.

As for actual lists... I know I've seen some floating around, but I can't really find them now. To be honest, I'm tempted to start putting one together myself (with the help of Corona and the rest of my F-list) now that you brought it up. Do you think that sounds like a good idea?

I was actually thinking about making myself a couple of cliche tables (probably one each for Basic cliches, Sci-Fi cliches and Horror cliches.) To play with in the mean time. I hope you don't mind, I don't want to frolic across anyone's creative toes, but they're just sort of falling out anyway.

I'm not sure what you want to do with the cliches when you've finished collecting them, mass post, list for stealing, cliche fic/table community. All of which I think would be awesome!

Tables sound like a great idea. I was thinking maybe we could use that as a way of building up the "list", i.e. get people to donate ideas and then put them together into these cliche tables you're talking about. Would you be willing for us to do that and cannibalise your idea for the project?

So are we still talking about "romantic/sexual/how to get a couple together" type cliches here yes? Sc-fi cliches would things like alien devices and sex pollen, and Basic cliches things like "pretending to be a couple" etc, yes? Can't wrap my mind around what Horror cliches would be though...

Anyways, if you would be willing for us to go with your cliche table ideas, I could post asking for the cliche suggestions tomorrw... Then we could pimp it, get a huge list, then form tables, then put together a challenge comm where people can claim couples to write... um. I may be getting ahead of myself here but WOULDN'T IT BE THE BEST THING EVER??

A much bigger list would certainly be more fun to spread out/play with/cut and paste for different sorts of fandoms. I'm totally fine with people cannibalising/mangling/downright stealing my ideas for creative purposes.

To get an idea of what I meant about cliche categories. These are the tables I put together for myself to play with, I don't know what you think of the cliches I've used or how I've divided them...feel free to steal and play with whatever you want and ignore what you don't. My Cliche Tables opened so you can see them. Oh and please tell me if I've made anything confusing.

I think you could probably get much better tables from a huge donated list, including a load I'm probably missing. so I'm quite excited about the possibilities too. It would indeed be a truly awesome thing, and a challenge with claimed couples in a fandom sounds just perfect! The cliches could play in so many different ways I think it would be fantastic to see.

Okay, so here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to type an introductory post about the Embrace the Cliché project (feel free to come up with a better name), outlining the purpose i.e. we're going to be hugely crazy and put together a challenge comm... maybe? Then I'll email it to you and iniq (email addy pls?) to look over and we take it from there?

Now I'm thinking whether to do the original cliché donation post on my journal or maybe just set up a comm already. Or perhaps someone should smack me on the head for getting way ahead of myself here...

They were hilarious fun to think up, especially the special added cliches that always seem to happen in Sci-fi and Horror.

I love the title 'Embrace the Cliche' I think it's fantastic and would work perfectly! A challenge comm certainly sounds like a good idea, an utterly pan-fandom thing, because cliches can be used for any of them, pan-fandom things always seem to be lots of fun, with so many different flavours to play with!

I would love to see what you come up with, feel free also to mail me for anything else you need that I might be helpful with.

I personally think you should collect the cliches first in your LJ, I think you could get a fair pile of them to play with and they could be used to construct a comm around them rather than building it as you go and probably end up having to change a lot of it around.

I am both fascinated and terrified by how zombies get people together. Myself and razorxorsary are using a zombie plot in the anywhere_road verse and it is ridiculously fun.

Pan-fandom things are love. I'm definitely polyamorous when it comes to fandom, because how could I not with so much pretty out there to porn play with?

Not sure if I understand your question... The entries are due 3 August at which point I will make a Masterlist post on the evilsam_spn community. All the participants can post their fics on that day (preferrably not before) where ever they want (own LJ, the comm, own website). I will then ask people to come and tell me the links so I can update the Masterlist, and of course pimp it to high heaven :)

How are you doing with your challenges? I see you signed up to write two fics? Do you think you'll be able to finish them on time, or is it the posting time that's a problem? Will you be back in the country (i.e. have normal internet access) for 3 August?

English isn't my first language either (I'm actually Finnish) though I have lived in the UK for almost 8 years now. Reading and writing fanfic does wonders to your English skills I think so I would recommend it :)

I am writing more RPS at the moment. It's bandslash, with people from various bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco and Cobra Starship making appearances. I've been pulled into Bandom big time so there will a lot of those kinds of posts in the future.

Hi, I don't mind friending. And yes, I do like Will/Allan... among several other pairings. I'm terribly multifandom as you can see from a brief glance at my LJ, so if you're looking for friends to squee exclusively about Robin Hood and Will/Allan then I'm not perhaps the best person for that.
