Short version: OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK
Long version:
Okay, the case plot, didn't see that one coming so that was all cleverly done.
However, the rest: FOR FUCK'S SAKE! I literally spent the whole episode going 'DUNCAN, NO' because please god someone give that man two brain cells to rub together. How many times are you going to break Jimmy's heart?
You could spot Donna's manipulation from a mile off with the letter. Like I KNEW it was an accusation as soon as she gave it to Duncan to post.
Here is the alternative ending I really wanted to happen, sort of thought would (well the non-slashy version anyway) and NOW AM FURIOUS ENOUGH THAT I'M CONSIDERING WRITING IT BECAUSE GODDAMMIT.
Duncan gives Donna the hot chocolate but with no meds or at least not with enough meds to kill her, just to put her to deep sleep for a bit. Donna, thinking she's going to die, actually tells him what she's done, wanting to enjoy the last gleeful laugh... Except... She doesn't die. And therefore Duncan both realises what a manipulative bitch she is and the letter she sent only underlines that in the minds of everyone who might read it.
Then Duncan, horrified at being led like a lamb to slaughter once more, goes straight to Jimmy with the story. Especially as he realises what could've happened to Jimmy's career.
Nurse Meg comes to the same realisation she seems to have come at Donna's funeral, i.e. that relationship between Jimmy and Duncan is... Something. She's a smart woman. I actually really liked her character, just tired of the unnecessary pushing of romantic overtones. Like that added nothing to the series or to the interactions between her and Jimmy.
Anyway, plot, plot, feelings, Donna eventually dies on her own, and Jimmy's dad gets a place at a care home in Lerwick, and Jimmy and Duncan get their shit together. In a carnal sense.
The end.
Anyway, goddamn cliffhanger. At least season 7 should be out next year but... In the meanwhile it might that my Sunday is now spoken for. Ugh.
Also, I need icons.
