okay, so I fail at fic stalking in a timely manner. Look, shiny things...over there...
I'm predictable - reading the porny stuff first and all. But, yes, rather nice, even if I do see what you mean about your writing developing over the 3 or so years its been since you've posted this. The newer stiff is all dark-edged and razor sharp. But I really enjoyed the fluffy warmness of this, and it helps the story you are telling (this wouldn't work sharp and slightly dangerous), and I think both Rodney and Carson are these generously drawn, soft edged characters. And I love the way you slide in interesting character insights - Rodney's remarkably coherent drinking-voice was dead on.
Of all random things to be impressed with - I adored your Zelenka dialog! I haven't read a lot of Zelenka fic, but what I have tends to go for "generic broken English" without a whole lot of insight into the character's background, and this didn't - there seemed to be a lot of thought that went into what sort of things he'd know (dead on in the science terms, a little fuzzier on the grammar when he's talking about anything else, more comfortable with Rodney, but nervous slips in front of others). Nice work!
(We've been rewatching season 1, since we've gotten to SG-1 overlap time, and I didn't realize how much I've missed Carson and the accent, and his mulish bitchiness and tendency to say things like "inoculating some wee babies". Oh, Carson....)
