Open Festival of Writing - 3/5 September 2010 - Collingwood College, Durham, UK

Book now to ensure you get the workshop of your choice; writing workshops led by: Kate Walker, Stephen Wade, Tim Wilson (who also writes as Jude Morgan), Bob Beagrie, Marvin Close. Stretching over a full weekend from Friday afternoon, through Satuday until lunch on Sunday. Come for the whole time or just a single workshop. Prices to suit everyone.

Collingwood is in an ideal location and within walking distance from the centre of the historic city of Durham. Or, for the non brisk walkers, the number 6 bus runs every 15 minutes from Durham Bus Station (town centre) and stops outside the college.

I'm behind on making your cushions a bit because I've had Loki here and don't dare get out a needle while he's around, but now he's gone, I'm cutting and sewing. :)

I am having lovely relaxing time with mum. We've been decorating the flat and I have sofa and arm chair covers and many pillows - but there can never be too many... So no worries about it babe, I'm sure I'll get it eventually. And you can collect the knife set when you next visit as well :)

Also... I'm not only shedding like a cat, it turns out I'm going grey as well. *dies*

My Nana started going grey at 19 and she was completely silver by the time she was my age (her hair is all white, now), and my mother started going grey at 28, but I was hoping I wouldn't get hit with that yet! *faceplants*

Hehe, thanks darling. It would be in about the right place for the Polgara look as well, so far! My Nana was white-haired by the time she was 30, all grey before she was my age, so I might be in luck.

Not in luck with the bank though. They cancelled my debit card without warning - which is great, as I booked my DWcon room on that card and that's in two weeks. X_X Going into town to talk to them tomorrow. I'm loath to interrupt your time with your mum, but how would you feel about possibly setting up that overview-account-thing officially with me, if they'll let me now? *hugs*

Boo on the debit card cancellation. And yes, of course I can set up the overview account with you - I don't know how that would work though? We'll be in town tomorrow afternoon at some point if you need me to come to the talk to the bank with you? Or if you want to set up a meeting later in the week, I'm free on Friday. Let me know what info they might need of me.

The overview thing is what they call a third-party mandate, basically giving you legal permission to operate my bank account for me if I'm not mentally up to it - like during a manic episode where I could get myself into serious trouble - especially at the moment, I'm cycling like crazy. Would you be willing to take that on? I would understand if you aren't, but I thought of you first as you know my situation better than just about anyone and I trust you enough for it. I'm trying to get referred to a psychiatrist so I can control this better, but right now... messy. D:

I'd prefer to set up a meeting, but given my current mental state and energy level it's probably better to do it tomorrow - if you text me when you're leaving for town, I can come in and meet you both? (Yeah, I know your mum doesn't speak English, but I still think she's cool.) I'm really sorry for interrupting stuff.

I think the info they'll need from you would be your passport and a utility bill, or something like that. Proof of address and identity - but maybe also legal resident status since you're not British. *hug*

You don't have to decide whether you can do the third-party mandate tonight, hon, I'm happy to let you sleep on it if you need to. *hugs more*

Okay babe, that sounds fine. I don't mind taking that on, but how would that work in practice, deciding when you can be in charge of your finances and when you shouldn't? Like do I have the control of your bank account as a default and like say your purchases would need to be approved by me every time? Well, guess we can ask tomorrow at the bank about the practicalities.

I can bring passport and utility bill tomorrow (...I think I've already gotten one...). As it's EU passport I have, it already gives me legal, unlimited residency so that shouldn't be an issue. We're going to Lowry tomorrow morning/lunch time so should be in town centre for 2-3pm.

Not quite every time, I think. I was thinking maybe, when I'm having a bad episode and I know there's risk of overspending without thinking about it, I could give my debit card to you and you could only let me have what money I absolutely need for stuff like food and such until it's over - the bad ones usually last a few days to a couple of weeks. Only you would legally be able to do that. Does that sound okay to you? *hug* I'm normally capable of knowing when I'm about to hit a bad patch, even if I can't really control them.

Looks like fun but that's my last week of work and I'm moving out on the 3rd. Plus we're going to see the Merlin cast on the Sunday with the first two eps of the series. :)

Yeah, I probably shouldn't even go to that but for £5.25 I can perve at Katie McGrath and Colin Morgan from the 3rd row and watch two episodes of my show. So worth it. :)

I shall remember for next year though!
