Haha it's a writing meme no one cares
***
Seriously, I've had a very long week. Yesterday I had 3 lectures. Which I gave. 2x2h + 1x3h and then I attended a fourth one. Now I need to clean and tomorrow I still need to do some lecture prep and clean more. I have many tabs open that I should comment on. I have laptop I should be buying. And... idek, other things that I've failed at. So hey, what's one more.

Ask a question about my writing and I'll try to answer it:
1) What I was thinking at the time I wrote a story/series or a question about my writing as a whole. It can be absolutely anythingincluding about my WsIP. (I don't post WIPs, they're all on my hard-drive and I don't like to talk about them so there)
2) Pick a character/pairing I've written and I will explain thetop five some ideas, concepts, etc. I try to keep in mind while writing that character/pairing.
3) Quote a few lines from something I've written and I'll comment on them.
4) At AO3 I have posted xx works. Pick a number from 1 (the most recent) to xx (the first story I posted there) and I'll tell you three things I currently like about the story. IDK why this is so complicated a question and also, as much as I love AO3, the casual assumption that everyone posts fics there is annoying. Well. I do post most of my fics there. But not all, e.g. none of the
unmarked_place stuff is there because of reasons. Anyway, rather than play with numbers, why not just randomly select a story and then I can tell you some things about it. Probably not 3 and probably not why I like it. But things.
Oh yeah, you can find my fics via LJ Masterlist or via AO3.

And do NOT buy a Lenovo. Yes, that is me shouting. Do NOT. Mine (2nd version) works perfectly well but has some problems - like a non-functioning mic and they said yes, we'll put it right but we'll keep your computer for at least ten days - and all the forums say their service/repair is hopeless - much longer than ten days and no guarantee of repairs or even of the machine arriving back in one piece. So don't go there!

Advice heeded! I'm considering another HP or Acer at the moment but I also want a Samsung Galaxy tablet that I can have on the go so... I'm just very bad buying things even when they are things I need.

However, I'm always interested in Mikey/Gerard so would like to know some of your thoughts around them.

Mikey/Gerard... Hmm, well there are quite a few versions of them in my head. It's an interesting pairing because I can believe it going either way with the d/s dynamic which is rare for me as most pairings I write I'm quite fixed on whom I prefer as d if that dynamic is present.
See, Gee as a d makes sense to me because... He's the older brother, he's supposed to be taking care of Mikes and this is really just another way of doing it, if Mikey needs it then shouldn't it then be his duty (but never just that, never only that) to provide it. And he needs to hear Mikey ask, needs to hear the need in his voice so he knows he's invited and wanted and it's okay. And Mikey, he's looking up to his older brother, loves him so damn much, too much really, and he's always wanted Gerard attention, loves being the one that Gerard comes home to and tells everything to. He'll do anything to please Gerard and maybe that's not healthy but he can't ever imagine Gee asking for something he wouldn't be willing to give. Largely because he can't imagine there being anything he wouldn't be willing to give.
And Mikeay as a d makes sense because... Gerard's the older brother, he's supposed to be taking care of Mikes. He could never... do anything, would never hurt Mikey by acting on what he wants because it's wrong. But when Mikey tells him to... Well that's different, isn't it? That takes the decision out of his hands, takes the responsibility away. And Mikey... well, his possessiveness really could flip this way too, couldn't it.
Even without any d/s dynamic, I'm really fond of the fanon portrayal of the two of them inappropriately close. Like even if there isn't slash I totally think they're kind of brothers who share too much and like give each other sex advice etc.
There's another version of the Way brothers that I have in my head and it's the kind of tangled together, fucked up, co-dependent, jagged, hurting, breathlessly fragile relationship I'm sketched in the two poems (and as of yet finished fic) that's kind half-tragedy, half-magical realism, all bird metaphors and yearning and slow press of fingers and mouths and... well, yeah. That.

1. They are BFFs. This makes everything more complicated and risky.
2. Pete is a needy, bratty sub. Patrick is the toppiest top in topsville, except he doesn't always realise it. If it's this pairing, I have huge problems of reading it switched. I can only buy Pete as kind of toppy with Gabe and some of the Panic boys.
3. Pete totally had a massive boner for jailbait!Patrick and he felt really skeevy about it and tried to hide it behind jokey affection and ott leering. But the boner was real and massive and there was nothing jokey about how he felt (feels) about Patrick.
4. Sometimes Patrick still thinks he's nothing special. Then he realises that he has Pete and Pete is amazing and that must mean that so is he.
5. Very often Pete thinks he's nothing special. Or even that he's a fraud and a failure and no good and... Then Patrick reminds him that he's none of those things, but that he's just human and should let himself be that in addition to being amazing.
6. It's inevitable.

I agree with all of this; I've always seen Pete as a sub, even Arma era Pete is just...the subbiest sub to ever sub. And it's puzzled me beyond belief when people see their dynamic as switched; I like discussing it, the reasons why they think Patrick's obviously a sub, etc., because I like to discuss and debate those kinds of things (as long as no one starts throwing around the 'you're wrong because I said so and also, you're stupid' rocks, that is), I generally can't even read it. If a writer I really liked wrote it, I would probably at least give a look over, but otherwise, it completely throws me and confuses me, and I can't read it.
The BFF angle is a tried and true bulletproof kink of mine and these two are a perfect example of why; the love is so obviously there, you can see it in the way they talk to and about each other, onstage, in interviews. Whether or not they've ever actually had sex is open for debate, but the fact these two love each other isn't.
I loved your answer here, in case you couldn't tell, lol.

I would say that even if Patrick didn't have formal training per se, he would have subbed at some point in time to try and get a feel for it, try to understand it; he's a thorough, methodical bastard in the studio and I can't see him being any different with this, especially with it concerning Pete like it does.

1. What were you thinking about when you wrote the stories in the Dream of Dragons series? What was important to you as you wrote?
4. What do you like about Claim? *reads story for the eleventy-seventh time*

'Dream of Dragons' - This is a verse where I'm less a writer and more a storyteller; it unfolds as I write. Beyond a vague idea, for none of them I've had any clear plot line worked out when I start. Essentially: I don't know what's going to happen and the story comes out of the process of telling. Things I keep in mind... There's a degree of magical realism, there's always more happening under the surface than the characters really know about and in general things may not be what they seem. There's a bigged plot going on, though I'm not entirely clear what it is yet... I can say that I have the next instalment ready to post and things move forward in that somewhat especially for Hathaway... Hopefully will have time/energy to post it this Sunday :)
'Claim' - Hee, I'm continually amused how much people have enjoyed this fic. I think it has less to do with any quality and more with the fact that I think I got there first in Lewis fandom with this particular trope. Which just goes to show that there will always be market for werewolf AUs... I wrote this fic really quickly and it was supposed to be even shorter than it was. I like the world-building in it, and in general power imbalance is a theme that I love writing, whether it's d/s dynamic, or a more structured/formalised way like here with the pack hierarchies and how those would play out in a society.

Claim: Hmm. Yes, it's true that you were the first (and only so far?) to write a Lewis werewolf AU, but I don't think that's all there is to why I love this story. I agree that the power imbalance is delicious (Alpha!Lewis is a lovely thing!), and you also evoke their wolfiness so fabulously:
"If he was in wolf-form, Robbie is sure his ears would be flattened and his tail tucked in" etc. I think giving us both human and wolf view of what's going in with them and between them, is so evocative.

Possibly only, or was there a werewolf thingy written for the Fright Fest? I didn't have time to read most of the entries so maybe I'm imagining things... Regardless, thank you very much for your lovely comments on the fic, I get ridiculously excited when someone quotes stuff back at me so yay :D
