Robin Hood 3.12 & 3.13 - Something Worth Fighting For

So, finally got around to watching the last two episodes of Robin Hood. I'm pretty sure spoiler period has expired but lets put these comments under cut anyway.

* So, um, is it just me or was there a slightly incestuous vibe going on between Archer and Isabella?

* Speaking of Isabella... I don't know if it's bad writing, bad acting or a combination of both, but by god she has turned the most cringe-inducing, ott character imaginable.

* Oh god, the yoko pendant. That plot device made me roll my eyes so hard.

* Sheriff's Tunnel of Love. Ahahaha. *is twelve*

* Guy is still interesting.

* Kate is annoying when she's being all 'loooooooooooove me Robin blah blah' and having inexplicable outbursts.

* Seriously INCEST VIBE SO HIGH. "I'll give you more than pennies... Brother." o_O

* Okay, proclaiming immunity to Alan, a more clever move. Oh Alan... The gang turning their back at him was a heart-rendering scene.

* Anyone else notice how Archer is trying to forge cold iron.

* Aww no one hugs Guy goodbye. Lol.

* Tuck is failing as an inspirational speaker.

* I really kind of want some angry incestuous hate sex between Archer and Isabella. Yes, I said it.

* "He must love Isabella, why else would he have the pendant?" OH I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE A THOUSAND OTHER REASONS. Jesus H.

* Oh Much and his fear of graves... WHY WERE THE REASONS FOR THIS NEVER ADDRESSED. Oh yeah, because the writers don't care about him.

* Alan is awesome. The end.

* Okay the scene with John and Tuck in front of the castle, having their little poetic moment and then turning around to see the villagers... First scene that really made me genuinely smile, a distant echo of the FUCK YEAH moments from the first season.

* Ah the strategy of passive resistance, used by such prominent figures as Ghandi, Martin Luther King and um, Brother Tuck.

* Oh Much baby... even when he's terrified of being buried alive he's insisting it's Robin who gets out first.

* Nooooooooooooo ALAN!!

* Also oh god the part where Much's hand slips from Robin's... (yes, there was a petty part of me going "SEE, SEE, HOW DOES IT FEEL HUH?') Visually that was a great shot

* Okay, the peaseful protest kick was going well so far...

* What the hell, why is Archer suddenly developing a conscience and switiching sides, just because of Kate.

* Oh Alan. Dead knowing no one trusted him.

* O HAI SHERIFF I MISSED YOU!

* Okay, I admit it. Seeing Robin and Guy facing the Sheriff side by side makes me a little happy. In my pants.

* As does the fact that Robin didn't hand Guy over.

* Oh godddd Alan's burial... *sniffles*

* Loved the scene between Guy and Isabella in the cell.

* Oh hey Kate is doing stuff other than pining after Robin again. Awesome.

* All the drama around Archer sort of passed me by.

* Robin going on a mission AND LEAVING MUCH IN CHARGE. Fucking FINALLY. Also: *clutches heart* His faaaaaaaaaaaaaace.

* Every time someone says "The trebuchets!" I snickered. Idk why.

* When Robin and co get back he runs straight to Much and there is almost hugging. With all the face-grabbing that was going on I almost expected there to be a joyous kiss. Yes I know I'm delusional, just leave me be.

* Why the hell is Tuck doing his 'figuring out the base elements' in the middle of the attack. Why isn't he setting up a historically inplausible laboratory in the castle?

* Okay Much being in charge of the archers is awesome. Especially his little 'you wanna take me, huh?' jump at the end there *hearts him*

* ffs, you'd think they put someone smarter in charge of the prisoners though. Isobella's 'ploy' wasn't exactly subtle.

* I really rather like Much giving commands with his sword held high... Um, I mean, what?

* OH FFS KATE /o\

* ROBIN AND MUCH BEING A WELL-OILED MACHINE OF BFFS. This is how it totally worked in the war, okay. AND WHY WEREN'T THERE MOAR OF THIS IN THIS SEASON?

* ALSO MUCH SAVING KATE WAS AMAZING! A thanks would have been nice Robin.

* emo!Robin is emo. And his speech just makes me sigh and roll my eyes.

* Okay, I have to give credit to the fact that finally, after what feels like forever, Much is actually portrayed as the competent fighter (and leader!) he is.

* Isabella wants to have incestuous relations with all her brothers and half-brothers.

* Oh Guy...

* oh wait it's a regular family reunion.

* OH, OH ROBIN. I knew it was coming, but I didn't know how. Poison sword and knowing the time is running out are actually... well, it's a way more interesting way to do it than the dying in the battle I was expecting.

* Oh Guy, Guy. 'I lived in shame but because of you I die proud'... Okay, the headcount for this finale is pretty fucking high. Always, always found Guy an interesting character and Richard Armitage did an excellent job with the role.

* Okay the whole final battle/escape... and I'm really just waiting for the inevitable.

* Lol and there went a perfectly fine model of the Nottingham Castle. Nice explosion though.

* What was the point of telling Archer not to tell Kate that Robin was dying when Tuck blabbed it to everyone practically 5 minutes later?

* Oh Much.... And now I'm crying... his broken face, his broken heart and broken life.

* Oh the echo of the hand trailing the flowers... That was a nice shot.

*Much: what am i going to be without you?
Robin: you're already more of a man than i ever was. you're my best friend
Me: FUCKING BAWLING NOW

* And Much's floppy haaaaaaaaaaaaair *strokes it*

* Robin goes off to die alone. Like an elephant. The scene with Marian was entirely predictable yet fitting.

* As [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666  pointed out, Guy should have had Alan waiting for him when he died, just like Marian was waiting for Robin. Someone write this y/y?

* [livejournal.com profile] ginnystar  and [livejournal.com profile] inkblot_fiend you were right: that was one pansy-ass lily they gave him. I really wanted it to be the those small white flowers Robin touches lingeringly in the first episode when they get home. That would have been so much better.

* The ending with 'we are Robin Hood, the show must go on' felt a little trite to me. The good thing is it will fit nicely into the drabble idea I have in mind. Already they are forgetting him, Much can see that...

* Final thoughts: On balance there were many more head-desk moments than there were good ones, and that I feel is a pretty descriptive of the entire third season. I was nowhere as emotionally invested in this season as I was on the first two and thus the news of the series' end filled me with no huge sorrow. Although somehow I feel that Robin Hood without Robin could have actually been a Much better show. Pun intended. Still, the series certainly had its moments. And when they were good they were so very, very good. Of course, when they were bad, they were god awful. However, in the end I always loved the RH fandom more than I ever loved the show. And unlike the show, the fandom is still here. So... fic recs anyone?
