Ryland can count the times he’s seen Alex drunk with one hand. Tonight is number five.
“Heyyyy.” His breath smells like vodka, lips brushing against Ryland’s collarbone, fingers stealing under the hem of Ryland’s t-shirt, sliding through the sweat at the small of his back.
Ryland grimaces but Alex only giggles, does it again, slower. Purposely.
“Good night?” Ryland asks, as if he doesn’t know. As if he hasn’t spent most of it watching Alex down shots, hands twitching for the safety of his guitar.
“Could be better.” Like this, Alex is electric, a song Ryland can’t stop dreaming about.
