And then, yes, TXT dropped some new stuff recently too and I really have enjoyed that comeback as a whole, but this fancam of the Yeonjun and Soobin doing Killa came on my feed today and you have to cope with the near hysterical screaming from the audience but it's worth it for *gestures mutely*

Anyway, the point is that there is a lot of real world shit happening in the world at the moment and these parasocial relationships are honestly the least harmful coping mechanism one could be expected to reach so.

I enjoy the Korean lads, always loved fantastic dance skills and I enjoy a good bop despite pop not really being my thing - I'm not into them the same way you and DD are. BUT I have to admit that Namjoon fascinates me both as a creative artist and, well, just as a really intelligent thoughtful person. He's said a lot of really interesting things about Korean society and its expectations and how everyone doesn't fit into neat little boxes and I loved his involvement in legislating just how hard companies can work the often very young teenagers in the boy band system. That's the long way round of saying this song got to me personally a lot more than a lot of BTS' work. I also loved that tiny moment where he rubbed his hair, just a subtle reminder of why it looks like that because of where he currently is and what he's doing, yet another expectation/obligation of his society. I'm fascinated by what he's going to do when he gets out. Thanks for sharing it. ♥

THIS. I love BTS a whole lot, but Namjoon's solo stuff, and him as an artist, as a poet, hits on a whole different level. Mono and Indigo were both really emotional albums to listen. I also deliberately wanted to respond to the last part of your post in a separate comment - a lot of real world shit happening in the world at the moment - and how I've been thinking of how I'm not being very successful in finding escapism in fandom (fandoms of one don't provide this) and media the way I've been able to do for a long time.

MG pointed out that our media choices have got a lot darker which isn't helping any I don't think - it doesn't have to all be sunshine and lollipops but when the world appears to be going to hell in a handbasket perhaps a media diet that just underlines that view isn't an excellent choice. I'm remembering how avid reading allowed me to escape a lot of shit in childhood.

Fandom, in terms on canon and fanwork consumption, creative outlet, and community experience, has absolutely been and continues to be a major coping mechanism for me. And I already do some of the 'heavy lifting' around the world shit and trying to make it a little less shit at work, and I know you do too, so some kind of escapism is needed. I hope you find at least some media that will help you do that <3
