RAWR! WOMAN MAKE TABLE!

***

I bought garden furniture. This set (only I got it even cheaper, for £199, boo yay!) to be exact because it will also nicely work in my lounge meaning guests have other options besides cuddling with me on the two-seater sofa or sitting on the floor. Plus now I have a proper coffee table rather than using a cardboard box.

Yes, a major motivation for buying this set was the fact that mum is coming to visit in a month and if I don't have something better than a) a quilt for her to sit in the garden and b) a cardboard box for her to put her glass of cider down, she will c) give me an eyeroll of motherly exasperation and d) buy them herself.

But! Hah! Foiled!

Because now I have table and two chairs. Let me tell you though, that table was a fucking bitch to put together. Took me an hour and a lot of force to align all the screw holes with screws. It was a full body workout and I am sweating and shaking now. But, rawr! Victory!

...there might be an actual life update at some point, but this post wasn't it. As you were.

Can't stop laughing. !Rawr woman with screwdriver!

So so funny. I look forward to seeing it in the garden this weekend.

Pfft, don't front, you're totally turned on by my prowess with a tiny socket wrench.

Table is definitely big enough to have dinner on :)

Oh baby having seen you attempting to put the bed together, for which you needed my expert help, i'm totally turned on by your prowess with a tiny socket wrench ...

Excellent on it being big enough. I suspect there may be dishes :)

If ever I get a big socket wrench I suspect the reaction will just be fear and/or laughter. :D

Wheeeeeeeee! Dishes sounds enticing :) Can't wait.

Oooh, very nice! We wanted to buy a table & chairs very similar to yours but it was too expensive for us atm. I love your garden so please take some pictures of your new furniture in the garden! :P

I'm enjoying them and they're nice and sturdy enough to work as indoor furniture also. Yes, I'm sure I'll end up faffing about with a camera in my hand again.

Speaking of photos... would love to see some of you new place!

I'm sooo bad with a camera but I'll take a few photos when I get my camera back! :)

Excellent. Just point and click, that's what I do most of the time :D

Mum bought something similar for her garden, and it still isn't together. I tried and unfortunately failed. Then my Dad's friend attempted it for four and a half hours and failed, and then my brother arrived and failed - but deduced that one of the bits was wrong.

She now has half built bench pieces all over the living room and an empty garden. This is not as inspiring a story as yours is.

Yikes, that sounds infinitely worse than mine. Bits weren't exactly wrong, just not quite ideally aligned so a lot of brute force had to be used. Any point of taking your mum's furniture back to the shop?

We're going to try to take the duplicate bit and swap it, if not we;ll have t take the whole thing back (if Mum can find her receipt that is!)

Good luck with the exchange thing. Hopefully you'll get the right part and assembly can be completed.

That seting is really nice! I could do with something like that under my veranda. And yay for multipurpose furniture, you’ve done well and it will be lovely and comfy for your mum:)

I'm sitting on it right now, outside in the garden whilst answering your comment. It's coming to 9 am, I have answered work emails and am about to get my second cup of coffee. Love that I can just move my office here for the summer :D

And yes, I think mum will approve.

That's a dream office! Enjoy:)

Well done with the table! These things are never quite as simple as they look in the instructions... The chairs will make lovely lounge furniture and your mum will be thrilled!

I am feeling quite smug about my victory over the table. Especially this morning when I sat in the sun, enjoying coffee and checking emails on my new 'office' furniture. Bliss.
