Fic round-up of 2008 and some writing rambling

For the last two years I’ve done a yearly writing roundup right about this time. This year… Well, okay, I’m still going to do it even though the word count of finished and published fic is laughably small. I have actually done a lot of writing in 2008, it’s just that a great amount of that is original fic (some my own, a lot co-authored with [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666 ) that is both wip and possibly meant for publication which is why it hasn’t been posted openly.

Aaaanyway, in 2008 I posted:

I’m not going to do the questions in the traditional “End of Year Fic Roundup Meme” because I really don’t have enough material here, and for many the answer would be “that awesome piece of writing I did but only one other person has seen so far” and that’s kind of boring.  However,
I will ramble a bit about some of these.

I was overwhelmed and kind of amused by the reaction Shades of Love got, judging by the sheer number of comments that was undoubtedly the most successful fic of the year. In Supernatural fandom sex sells. This was further proved by the comments on read the fine print later – the filthiest piece of hard-core kink I’ve ever written. I'm still a little shocked by myself that I wrote it.

2008 was a year of co-authoring. [livejournal.com profile] ginnystar  and I wrote permit yourself anger and permit me mine and the experience was 100% positive. There are other co-authoring projects in the works:  [livejournal.com profile] revelininsanity  and I are writing this awesome Bandom Gerard/Patrick/Pete fic with spanking and D/s tones. Plotting for the[livejournal.com profile] anywhere_road   ‘verse continues undaunted with [livejournal.com profile] zeitheist .[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666   and I have several projects on the go, the first of which (a fluffly clichéd Pete/Patrick) is currently with beta.

The fic closest to me this year (of the ones publically posted) is probably Aftermath, originally written for the successful-beyond-my-wildest-dreams Bandom Gets Spanked Meme, and inspired by the gig[livejournal.com profile] pushkin666   and I attended.

In terms of writing, these are the fics I’m most proud of:
Limited – experimental, where the content served language and not the other way around.
Moth – pandered to my love of writing mentally unstable characters, reminded me that I actually love writing women.
Black, White, Red – I like the tri-colour theme and the structure. It’s the way I saw things going for Sam and Dean.

Additionally, I did a lot of writing under the self-therapy tag words unravelling like life – some of which I’m actually quite pleased with despite it being mostly pretentious and occasionally intensely personal.

2009 will hopefully see fics finished and not just started. One of my NY resolutions is to do the following things everyday, 5 days a week: clean/tidy house a little, do something toward thesis, write some fic. So, fingers crossed people….
