The Professionals Drabble: Pack

Drabble Fest 7/12 – for [personal profile] elle_dritch. Fandom and pairing/characters as requested.

Pack – The Professionals – Bodie/Doyle – PG-13

Prompt: Wolves

Someone once told Doyle that CI5 were like feral wolves; uncontrollable, dangerous.

He figured they weren’t wrong, just bloody ignorant. Wolves were smart and loyal, they had hierarchy; an alpha who kept the rest in line. Doyle knew this from nature documentaries he’d never admit to watching.

All in all it was an apt comparison, he thought.

Except... When push came to shove, Doyle knew it wasn’t the CI5 whose lead he’d follow. He glanced briefly over at Bodie, standing right next to him, gun in hand.

Maybe some wolves hunted in pairs. Maybe they were a pack of two.

\♥/! Drabble of my HEARTOMG.

Doyle knew this from nature documentaries he’d never admit to watching.

Sometimes Bodie says casually, "Let's go to the zoo," and Doyle bitches that it's for kids, but secretly he really enjoys it, especially when Bodie buys him an ice-cream and they spend a very enjoyable half an hour comparing Macklin point for point with the red-arsed baboons.

In conclusion, you are my FAVOURITE AND BEST.

ugh, ugh, where is the fic where Bodie takes Doyle to the zoo and there are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaby penguins that are fluffy and entirely adorable and guys are both trying to maintain their macho exterior but keep sneaking in to see them all the time?

Uh, what?

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway! YAY OMG YOU LIKED I'M IT SO RELIEVEDDDDDD. Wheeeeeee, I like being your favourite!

That's a nice image, and a good variation on the mobile ghetto theme. :-) Plus I am a fan of the drabble form.

[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I like this drabble. The idea of Bodie and Doyle being their own pack is quite true. They do rely on each other, as we've seen Cowley throw the to the wolves. *g* Thanks!

Yes, I can see them quite well as a pair of lone wolves, hunting together. Nice one:-)

Wonderful. 'A pack of two' reminds me of Bodie and Doyle the 'mobile ghetto'.

CI5 as a pack of wolves I like a lot. In 'Mixed Doubles', in the scene where both pairs are in the same pub leering at the same barmaid over the bar, I always think 'wolfish', especially Doyle.

Loved your two 'older' drabbles, too. If you hadn't posted to The Safehouse I'd never have seen them, so thank you!

[identity profile] pushkin666.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I do like the idea of the pair of them being a pack. They rely on each other so much and are lost without the other.

I also have this image in my head now of Doyle watching nature documentaries. I bet Bodie knows but he'd never mention it to anybody.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Whee! Love is always in the air with these two, even if they won't admit it... Thank you for reading and commenting!

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, so you know how it says above the other drabbles that I haven't seen many episodes... I must admit that the whole 'mobile ghetto' reference goes right over my head. But thank you for your comment, I'm glad you liked!

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much. Yes, the 'pack of two' was where my mind went immediately with a prompt like this, so I'm really glad it made sense to others too.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Yes, that's the image that came to my mind... all sleek and dangerous...

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Again I must confess to my complete lack of knowledge of ghetting that reference... Told you I haven't seen that many episodes, and certainly not in any systematic, chronological manner.

But thank you so much for reading and leaving feedback. This is one of those fandoms where I don't think I could pull of a longer fic at all, but drabbles are doable.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well my canon knowledge is rather shaky and base msotly on what I've gleaned from fanfics, but yay I'm glad if the characterisation works.

Doyle totally watches nature documentaries. And then they have a special on territorialism and he starts seeing things in a brand new light... Um, what?

[identity profile] saintvic.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep the comparison works wonderfully and like other commenters I think this fits Bodie and Doyle really well. Thank you for sharing these.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, thank you for reading and taking the time to leave feedback. I'm really pleased people have enjoyed the drabble and found my little analogy believable... :D

[identity profile] pushkin666.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well my canon knowledge is pretty good if you ever need to know anything about them :D

The fanfic is pretty damned good though.

And oh he really would be thinking about territorialism.

Walking encyclopedia... I shall keep it in mind then.

Hmmm, perhaps need to hunt some long pros fic to keep me entertained whislt travelling on Sunday.

[identity profile] pushkin666.livejournal.com 2009-09-10 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The best place for pros fic, in my opinion, is http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/

Really good archive.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, even I know that one... Haven't been there for a while though so maybe they have some shiny new fic.

[identity profile] pushkin666.livejournal.com 2009-09-13 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
There's been nothing new for a while, not since April/May.

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yum.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
On Saturday I will tell you all about a good Pros site/experience. Also, I am going to meet one of my Pros friends in Sydney. Cool!
