Supernatural Drabbles: Aesthetics, Bullseye

Rest of [personal profile] phemie’s drabbles. Look Ma, I wrote het. o_O

Supernatural – Jess/Sam – PG

Aesthetics
(prompt: art history 101)

“Art,” the professor says, snapping another picture up, “must be felt intellectually, emotionally, and physically.”

Sam is doodling into his notebook, the random loops slowly turning into an intricate Celtic Knot. He’s bored with the course already, fifteen minutes into the first class.

“True beauty is a union of mind, heart and senses.”

Sam snorts. In his family the value of drawings comes from their power, nothing else.

“This seat free?” A hand touches his shoulder briefly.

Sam looks up, startled, and suddenly the lecturer’s words make complete sense. He nods.

“Thanks,” the girl says, sitting down. “My name’s Jess.”

Supernatural – Gen – PG-13

Bullseye
(prompt: bow hunting)

“Son of a whore!” Dean is face down in the bed, but the curse is perfectly audible.

Sam hasn’t stopped laughing for the whole forty minutes it’s taken them to get back to the motel.

“Fucking leprechauns!” Dean spits. He bites the pillow, his neck prickling with cold sweat. “This thing could be poisoning me right now.”

Sam comes back from the bathroom, tossing the first aid kit onto the mattress. “Don’t be a baby. It’s just a flesh wound.”

Dean shifts cautiously, muffling a groan. “Shut the fuck up and pull this fucking arrow out of my fucking ass.”

“Son of a whore!”

I LOLed. New favourite phrase y/y?

Beautiful drabbles. One of the thing I love most about your drabbles is the way you put so much into a few words: I know you say you can't write PWP, but you can do limited backstory so well here. Um, hurrah?! :D

Heh, you haven't heard that before? Can't take credit for it, I've seen it used elsewhere. Also one of my favourite curses *gg*

Awww, babes! Thank you so much, that's a wonderful compliment to receive. *snuggles comment to bosom*

I don't hear it as often as you'd think, actually. People tend to default to "son of a bitch", whereas "son of a whore" works perfectly well. It's going to become one of my favourite curses, I can tell. :D

Hee. I feel like I'm getting monotonous with all this "EXCELLENT. VERY GOOD. LOVED IT." stuff, but I honestly can't think of anything else to say. There's no concrit to be given, and they bring me so much joy. Even so: I am still slightly jealous of your drabble-writing skills.

stop it now. my head is swelling like a balloon!

Okay, the second one caused my coffee to end up on my screen. Perfect Dean voice! I forget, at times, that he doesn't actually swear like this on the show (though Jensen's abilty to sell the "almost swear" is amazing). Still, no such beast as gen, at least not in this fandom :D

Um, I may be writing Sam/Jess, too, somehow? It's more about Sam/Dean, but it may end up in your inbox for general opining purposes sometime in the next few days.

I count that as a success then *brief victory wiggle*

Yeah, all unsolicited fic is welcome. I'll be happy to look it over for you darling.

Success until I have to replace my laptop or something :) And it's white (an iBook) - I should have known that white+something I'm rarely more than 5 feet away from = non-mixy things. *Grabs a rag, goes after coffee stains*

Also, Jess is hot.

Ooops...

Jess... beautiful but too perfect somehow.

[identity profile] phemie.livejournal.com 2008-02-09 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeeh, these are perfect! You clearly win at writing drabbles. Thank you! <3

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2008-02-09 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You are most welcome, hun. I'm just glad you liked them :)

Nice. As somebody else said - lots of implied back story in very few words.

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2008-02-10 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much! Whenever I write drabbles there's a larger back story in my head, out of which I then extract one single moment for the drabble.
