Agreed, and the whole sense of growth but also peeling of layers was part of that. Like you realise that 'ohhh, that's why David and Alexis are the way they are' and actually, the fact that they aren't worse is a miracle.
Patrick's dynamic with the whole Rose family is really interesting. And it's so obvious how worried David is that if he doesn't manage to scare Patrick away then the rest of his family will but Patrick just kind of rolls with it, but in a way that is kind but at the same time provides a voice of reason and doesn't let anyone spiral too far. It's like with David he's so often 'I hear your concerns and they are valid but this is actually how we can address them' and it works.
