The X-Files Ficlet: AS GODS

***

Title: AS GODS
Author: Mistress Kat / [livejournal.com profile] kat_lair
Fandom: The X-Files
Characters: The Eves
Genre: Experimental (it’s a genre, alright?)
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 222 (including the quotes)
Disclaimer: Not mine, only playing

Summary: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. ~ Genesis 3:5

Author notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] wendelah1 as a fill for her prompt in the ‘Sugar and Spice’ female-centric fanworksathon. Her prompt was: The Eves, gen, any time period, hivemind. This is un-betaed.

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,
then your eyes shall be opened,

and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:5

To never be alone is good. This they know. Night follows morning follows night and food comes, carried by flies

...common housefly, Musca domestica, is a solitary insect that only socialises for breeding and can carry over hundred pathogens, including those for cholera, tuberculosis, anthrax...

who bring medication like they don’t understand that they are the disease, like numbers are a disease. They only know One and Many. And First, but her body is dead

she is not because they are not because they are Many. Most wasps (Order: Hymenoptera, neither bee nor an ant) are eusocial

predatory
parasitic
beautiful

and so they do not listen to ‘Eve 9’ or ‘Eve 10’ or they listen equally which is to say not very much, but they do like ‘Eves’

And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden

and apples. For the irony.

The cell is not forever. They come, the rest, restless, the remaining, and take them away. To be together is good.
To feed together; divine.

the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden

Flies die easily.

Very creepy! I had to read the episode guide to understand the fic and you've done a wonderful job of getting into the children's minds with so few well chosen words. Great work!

Hee, 'Eve' was one of the creepiest 'monster of the week' epiodes as you just can't go wrong with evil twins... And I enjoyed the excuse to play with the narrative structure. Glad you liked!

...yes, these are the things I've been writing instead the challenge fics... Lewis dragons currently at 5K, I may just sent you what I have at the end of today even if it won't be quite finished...

Evil twins are very popular*g*

Yes, send me what you have on Lewis dragon and I can look at it my tomorrow (it's nearly midnight here) and send it back to you for your Monday morning-ish. (time difference are complicated sometimes;))
