Question Time

So who else is watching that toad Nick Griffin try to spin a shiny cover on his nazi-party? *attempts to refrain from punching the TV*

It's the old "where's your sense of humour? can't you take a joke?" argument...

I've been on a very ranty mood lately, mainly about gender issues. It's a good thing that I have people in my life who think it's great that I care about stuff like this... You know, instead of telling me to STFU.

Also, omg he just went on a rant about the MILITANT HOMOSEXUALS teaching homosexuality to school children (don't you know it's fine as long as people are doing it out of sight but two men kissing on the street fills him with repulsion).

"where's your sense of humour? can't you take a joke?" I believe these were the exact words he used on several occasions. It was like talking to a personification of an Anti-Racism/Feminism/Anti-Homophobia Bingo Card.

Incidentally, he also thinks Internet friendships are shallow and meaningless, and "real friendships" are forged irl. Apparently you and I should be hanging out with people like him instead of this global community of super awesome people that actually get it. I... have no words.

I do however have great love for said community. <3

Ah, those militant homosexuals. They do make the best porn. Which is to say, NICK GRIFFIN STFU.

What what, I thought everyone had seen My Beautiful Laundrette! Everyone with a thing for the UK and boylove, at least. I can tell you that you should see it NOW. Daniel Day-Lewis plays a National Front kinda guy who falls in love and opens a laundrette with an old Pakistani friend of his, played by Gordon Warnecke. Hard times ensue, but in the end it's a feel-good film, and a very good one at that.

It's one of those movies I've heard about a lot but just never gotten around to watching... But no worries, [livejournal.com profile] pushkin666 has just informed me that she has it and will bring it with her the next time she visits, so I shall be educated :D

Awesome! I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. I imagine it's the best kind of antidote for BNP-related rage.

I got a bunch of the printed bingo cards from [livejournal.com profile] connotations and am contemplating putting them on my walls...

Ah, GTFO, you not my real friend bohoo! Yea, that one is so annoying. And then when you say that you're meeting up with some of your 'internet friends' you're faced with a mix of alarm and concern centred around 'oh wow, so they're real people and nt just a figment of your imagination' and 'omg they're psycho killers be careful'. Sigh.

Hee, that movie sounds interesting... :D

All this paranoia about the Internet is just so so 1990's. I get the feeling these people think meet-ups take place in someone's cellar with no cell phone coverage instead of, you know, outside in public places where people normally meet. It simultaneously makes me want to smack them and pat them on the head for being so charmingly clueless.

...so, next meet-up in someone's dungeon basement y/y?

[identity profile] kat-lair.livejournal.com 2009-10-26 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
ahaha, alas I have no dungeon or basement. the cupboard under the stairs is too small and full of junk (although it does have a mood-setting red lighting...)
